Hello  -- In all the years I have owned my neuros I never used it to record. I  just tried for the first time today -- just to clarify .... the user guide manual noted that the recording can be done with the internal mic or an external mic /  line-in  -- I tried using an external mic -- not sure if the mic is working --  but the input / jack say 'line in'

does this input  require a true  line level input input or a mic level ?

umm ... can you recomend a amp pre-amp to for a mic to work with the unit?

Not personally, no.  I always recorded off of a mixing board or with the internal mic.

There are a couple of threads laying about on the topic, though.
