Title: Video has obvious lines
Post by: martinmmmm(at)yahoo.com on December 26, 2005, 02:47:37 PM

My video (it was connect to a DVD player) has really obvious lines across the screen. Is this normal or is there a way to fix it?

I get the same thing.
White vertical lines scrolling across the screen.
Here is a screenshot from my Axim X5.

I'd like to know what I can do to fix this.

Input on Neuros is from 2nd AV Out on Tivo Series 2, Output on Neuros is connected to Input 4 on my Panasonic 32 inch HDTV. I display video fine from my laptop to the TV via the same input on the TV.

When you playback the files on your TV, do you get the same white lines?

Same white lines on TV: In preview and playback.

Interesting. My lines are thinner, denser, and horizontal. They appear in preview mode, during recording, and during playback.

I got lines while recording also.  In my case, they changed depending on the location of the cables and recorder box.  I got them to disapear completly by unpluging the audio cables from my TV while recording.  That works as a permanent solution for me becasue the DVD player has a digital audio connection that is connected to my stereo amp.  So, I don't need to record in silence.

Anyway, it looks like either the cables or box are prone to picking up some kind of interference.  So, you all may want to try moving equipment, or cables, around.  Or try the no TV audio cable trick that works for me.

Have you tried switching the cables and recording from a different output source?  Does this happen in QVGA, WQVGA or TV VGA?

I switched the cables, same input source (video 2 on tivo series 2).
The vertical scrolling lines are still there.
However:
I noticed that I can minimize the appearance of the lines by rotating the 1/8 inch AV cable jack while it is in the input on the Neuros. Note I said minimize, they are still there but faint.

Your RCA cables might be bad.  Is there a loose connection within the port while the 1/8 inch side RCA jack portion is connected to the AV out or in?  Are any of the RCA video ports on your DVD or TiVo loose?

I have these lines also.  I didn't notice them at first but now they are very prominent.  It is very distracting.  If anyone can suggest a solution I would love to hear it.

I had the same problem with the unit right out of the box.
By turning the jacks while they are connected fixed the problem.
I have not had the problem since.
