Title: NSM Auto Install in Windows XP Post by: davesplace on December 29, 2005, 10:54:52 AM I recently upgraded from Windows ME to XP. As a result I reloaded all software including NSM but now I'm experiencing a problem that's new to me and exclusive to the NSM software. When using the internet various sites automatically lauch the auto installation for NSM.
How do I go about fixing or disabling the auto install? Thanks, Dave Title: Re: NSM Auto Install in Windows XP Post by: Luckychunk II on August 03, 2006, 11:16:00 PM Apologies for bumping this 8-month-old topic, but since no one has replied yet, and I suffer the same problem as the OP, it would be most helpful if someone with knowledge and/or magic can solve our problem here.
Here's what I'm running: Windows XP Pro SP2 NSM 1.54 for a Neuros I Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Windows Media Player 10 Java Runtime Environment/Plug-in ver. 1.4.2_11 When I visit Amazon.com and click on a song preview link, such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B0009UBYRE001001/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_001/102-3277456-1036930 Clicking on the link, which should launch the Windows Media Player for streaming, instead launches a Neuros Synchronization Manager installation package installer three times in a row. Is this an NSM problem, a WMP problem, or a Java problem (NSM uses Java to operate)? The same thing happens if you launch the WMP link from within IE as well. The resulting error box states: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'NSM_154.msi' in the box below." I think I've run in to that type of problem as well, it wasn't with Internet links but a certain filetype which had nothing to do with NSM would launch the NSM installer. I never figured out what was causing this but my solution was to uninstall NSM and use NDBM (http://neurosdbm.sourceforge.net/) to manage the music on my Neuros. I'm much more satisfied with NDBM than I ever was with NSM. You can download it here: http://neurosdbm.sourceforge.net/ FYI: NSM runs on the .NET Framework (not Java) and NDBM is a Java app. Your version of the JRE should run NDBM just fine. FYII: I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE! I didn't know people still used NSM.
