Title: Trouble with backpack connection? Post by: DACPro on March 09, 2006, 09:40:42 AM According to Neuros I got the very last Neuros II (with the internal 256 Mb memory). In fact after I ordered they wound up canceling my order and took the NII off the website.. After I contacted them they found that the last one was actually shipped to me. I love it.
However, I've always had problems with it in terms of the connection (at least I think that's what the problem is..) My biggest problem is that when it's not plugged in, I have to fiddle around with it to get it to turn on (and stay on). When I try to turn it on the backlighted display comes on for a quick second then turns off. If I remove it from the battery pack and plug it in again I eventually get it to stay on and then I can use it. Has anyone had this experience? I did some searching on this forum but didn't really come across the same thing (although one person had problems that were solved by re-soldering the connection to the battery?) Also, I know this would void the warranty (and it would be risky), but would anyone do the anntenna reception mod for me? (Paid of course) (Oh, I can't wait for the N3 too! I hope it has trim controls for the line inputs !) Thanks in advance! --KTFA Title: Re: Trouble with backpack connection? Post by: Derek on March 09, 2006, 11:36:59 AM I know how to do the antenna reception mod and would be willing to do it for free...(less shipping). I could take a look at your other little problems too, might be a loose solder joint or something.
you can take a look here first to see if it is something you can do yourself. http://lupavista.org/neuros/ this will void your warantee, but if done carefully will not affect your unit at all. even if you botch the job, the only thing you lose is reception. here are some other posts talking about the mod: http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6053&SearchTerms;=antenna,mod http://www.neurosaudio.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3628&SearchTerms;=antenna,mod if you are not sure, or have any more questions, just pop me an email. I'll contact you privately about the antenna reception mod. the link you quoted is what I had seen before and I guess I chickened out... Besides, for a while there I was using my NII quite a bit and I didn't have much down time. Either way, my soldering sucks so I'd much rather have someone else do it.. One thing though - I'm quite happy with the MiFi FM broadcasting that my NII does - it's the FM reception that is horrible and what I would want to improve by doing the antenna mod. That would work right? I'll drop you an email later today... Thanks Derek! --KTFA Title: Re: Trouble with backpack connection? Post by: Ex-Navy on March 10, 2006, 06:59:21 AM For just the antenna, you can also buy one cheap on ebay.
They are used for the Sirius satellite receivers that use a 2.5mm connector. Get the mod, connect the antenna http://cgi.ebay.com/Sirius-Radio-Plug-n-Play-FM-Transmitter-Antenna-NEW_W0QQitemZ5871090406QQcategoryZ109267QQcmdZViewItem Ex-Navy |
