Title: Pondering the purchase of a Neuros II
Post by: jeradin on March 09, 2006, 01:06:57 PM

I honestly have been waiting for the Neuros 3 for 8 months, put off buying an Ipod, Zen thingy and others... hoping, waiting, praying for the Neuros 3. Also didnt want to buy the Neuros II because of the size and welll, all the other issues I have read it has.... But I need an MP3 player badly...

If I buy a Neuros 2, will you have a tradein/upgrade to the Neuros 3 when it comes out?

Thanks!

To be honest; if you're not in a hurry, wait for the N3, if you are in a hurry and want a GREAT machine with awesome sound, then the N2 is the one.  I have an 80 GB N2 and love it.  True the size can be daunting at times, but the machine itself offsets all of that for me persoanlly.

I have an iAUDIO M3 and enjoy it, but it's library and playback limitations make it no better than the iPod Shuffle to me.  Now I admit, I don't know all the ins and outs of the iAUDIO yet, so I can't really give complete feedback for it, but the N2 is a very nice piece of equipment and delivers wonderful sound.  Regarding the problems you've read about on the forums, I can only state that I've had mine 2 years, play it about 20 to 30 hours a week, day/night and had only one problem with it when I first got it.  The "computer" died and had to be replaced and took about a week turnaround time.  Other than that, it's been reliable and delivers many hours of much appreciated service.

Just my two cents!  [;)]

I have only had mine for about 2 weeks...  I HIGHLY recommend it.  (Everyone who knows me will tell you I do NOT easily give recommendations or compliments)  The only real "problem" I have is getting the synch message to go away after I am done synching from a Windows machine...  Sometimes/often I have to completely shut down the machine in order for the "Synching do not unplug message" to go away...

SKIP the synch software that comes with the Neuros and go straight to NDBM  (NeurosDBM)  I do not know anything about sorune even though others recommend it...

I got it mainly for the massive capacity to hold my whole music collection.  (1,100+ CDs) in OGG at quality 6)  Have no complaints about the quality of the sound...

Other people who have looked at my Neuros are surprised at how FAST it starts up!!!  (I guess other players go through a startup process much longer than the 3 - 5 secs the Neuros goes through???)

At this point we are still unsure if we will have a N2 to N3 upgrade program. If we decide to, you know the first place you will hear about it is on this site. And before you ask, I do not have a firm date on when the N3 will be comming out. [}:)]

I thought Joe had said that anyone who had purchased a Neuros II 6 months or longer before the N3 came out would be given some kind of upgrade program for their support of the company? Is this not happening at all anymore?

There is no program in place yet because the product is not available yet.

When something is in place, our customers will be the first to know.  Any updates should be posted on the site.

I have had a Neuros II(80Gb) for a month now. It's been great so far. No complaints to speak of here. You can read my topic as I posted a fairly lengthy review.
