My Recorder 2 is set up in line with my DVD player/recorder as my television doesn't have video out. I think I get how to record a single program. However, suppose I wanted to set up a timer recording to record one program on one channel and then the next one on a different channel. I don't see how to do that. Is it even possible?

Do you by any chance have digital cable which normally includes a cable box?

If you don't have a more advanced solution, you can use a plain-ol' VCR.

Okay, maybe my question wasn't clear. What I want to do is the same thing I can do on my DVD recorder or can be done on a VCR. I want to set the recorder, for example to record on program at 8p on channel 3 and one at 9 on channel 10 and one at 10 on channel 12. I don't understand how to do that.

My set up is broadcast only. I have set it up according to the directions in the online version of the manual:

If you don't have cable or satellite TV, you
can record from broadcast TV by plugging the video out from a
VCR into the A/V In on the Recorder 2, then plugging the A/V Out
from the Recorder 2 into the Video In on the TV.

Substitute DVD recorder for VCR and you've got how I set things up. It works fine for a single recording where I have the DVD recorder set for the channel I want to record. However, this wouldn't work for succesive unattended recordings on different channels.

I understood your question--the reason I asked if you had a digital cable box was that there's a feature (with Comcast anyway) where the box will automatically change to the channel you want for the show you designate--this way you can accomplish what you're trying to do. Otherwise, I don't think it'd be possible.

Yes, and I mentioned VCRs because they can schedule different channels at different times. That's how I use my N1.

Hello Everybody, I am expecting my Recorder 2 to arrive this wednesday (3/29,) but I also have been thinking about how to enable programmable recording with the Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 on Different Channels.

When using this setup: Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 and VCR you have to program the VCR, have a VHS Video tape inside the player recording, and the Neuros Recorder recording all at the same time? You are making two recordings and using 2 different recorders.

On the other hand, there are programmable universal remote controls that allow you to program into their memory, and the remote control will switch the channels/etc. for you.

Also I was thinking of programming my PDA with an IR Remote Control Program to control the start of the recording, and the changing of the channels for the Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 to record.

What is everybody else using? Any other ideas? THANKS!

Yep, I'm making two copies of the recording. It doesn't bother me because I have a backup in case the N1 crashes (it happens occasionally), and because VHS is higher quality than the N1's output. Besides, just rewinding the tape is not difficult - do you seriously think it would be easier to program an infrared remote to control some (unspecified) output device and make sure the infrared signals are always received and handled properly?

Of course you will have to program something to make a scheduled recording - I find VCRs easier to set up than the alternatives. (You know about Auto Record on the Neuros, right?)

Admittedly, I have had the VCR for years. I'm not necessarily saying you should buy a VCR and a Neuros if you're starting from "zero."
