Title: HandBrake
Post by: Yvan256 on April 17, 2006, 12:01:15 PM
I can't figure out what settings to use with HandBrake ("http://handbrake.m0k.org/") to make .mp4 files compatibles with the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2...

The file plays, the audio plays, but there's no video!

I tried 320x176, 352x192 (widescreen content) even 320x240 (vertically stretched widescreen contant)

I tried XviD and FFmpeg, different video bitrates (256kbps, 512kbps, etc), different framerates (tried 23.98 and 29.97).

I always get a black screen with the rotating timer in the middle. But the audio always play, the file starts playing again when it ends, etc.

Anyone knows what the problem is? Why is there no video?! And please, no "use the AVI format" comments...

Try encoding in Mp4 at 29.97fps only.
The playback codec needs to see at least QVGA (320x240) 30fps
(closest handbrake fps and resolution)

If it is a header problem, the codec is not being selected.

You have a video sync timing problem

When you capture your video, your audio and video information contains time code tags which keep the playback in sync. When a program is authored to mpeg4, these time code tags are mistakenly removed by the authoring tool and potential sync corrections are lost
There are programs that can check and correct the sync problem.
