Title: I think my N1 just died
Post by: Forkboy on April 21, 2006, 07:19:41 PM
I'm heart broken, I have had this unit and loved every minute of owning it. It is not starting up and keeps saying it can't mount the HD then goes to the 1+5+Play screen and gives me a 0xA860 error when I try to reformat the File system. I think I'm going to cry [:(]

does this sound like an old problem to anyone? didnt giving the unit a little smack usually fix this?

I would try giving the unit a slight smack on the side, if the hard drive is stuck this will fix it.  I know this technique has been used a lot before...

P.S. - dont hammer on the thing either, give it a good smug thud, but nothing too hard.

When I was a kid my mom used to tell me that curiosity killed the cat...What she forgot to tell me was that it also discovered the cat, invented the lightbulb, and forged the Neuros

I ended up ordering a new 40gig HD from tigerdirect (hitachi wouldn't honor thier 3 year warranty for the HD) installed it and it's back to life! I love this player.

OHH MYY GODD... It works! Bang on the side of the neuros for 4-5 times really bring the HD to life! Thanks!!!

Before this I have tried putting 40gb HD in the neuros, but the massage "can't mount" appeared. Do I have to do anything with the new HD first before putting it in?
