My USB 1.0 20gb backpack is just unbearably slow and I'd love to upgrade since the hard drive seems to be showing signs of failure...

Can I purchase just the backpack (that is without the drive) or can I purchase just a plain USB2.0 backpack with a 20/40 gb drive in it?

I looked on the store here and all the links to these products seems to be gone. I still like to use my neuros, what can I do?

I recently asked is just backpacks were available via the support email, since I'd love to just be able to swap backpacks on my N2.  However, the answer I got is that since the N2 is on close-out, the 80GB package deals are all that is available.  But honestly, at that price, it really is a good deal.  I would recommend adding an extra battery or two to your order since that's what I've heard most people complaining about, and it is the part that is most likely not to be replaceable any other way down the road.  That's what I did at least...

Thanks anyway, but with a working neuros, I really don't want to spend $250 just to get the updated speed, I'd rather get a brand new audio player for that price. I was really hoping that i could at least pick up some spare part and do the replacement myself even... Oh well, guess that the use of my neuros is ending soon.

That option was never offered. You didn't miss anything. There was a time that the USB 1.1 backbacks could be swopped by NA to the USB 2.0 backbacks for $60. After that time you had to buy a whole new backback hard drive and all. It was really a pretty lame policy. I've opened my backpack up a couple of times to replace the hard drive and the battery. It's not that hard and if you're careful, you won't damage anything.
