Title: Background Hum
Post by: Thomas on May 07, 2006, 07:14:47 PM
Whenever I record to the Video Recorder 2 I get some audio background noise.  Usually just a slight hum, but enough to make it noticable and annoying.
I have tried changing wall outlets and using different input sources.
Any suggestions?

I am frustrated by the same thing.  It's terrible really, that such an expensive product should produce such horrible quality.  Everything I record, even at the highest quality settings, has loud background noise, hum and static noise.  Not only that, but the audio is extremely low in the first place, and is not adjustable apparently (is it?).  When you play video on the PSP, volume is already a problem, and the fact that video recorded with this device has extremely low volume compounds that problem tremendously, making it nearly impossible to hear the dialogue in a movie, even at the highest volume setting.  In a noisy environment, like outdoors, or (God forbid) a bus or airline .. totally impossible to hear.  If anybody knows any workarounds for these problems - the hum/static noise, and/or the unreasonably low volume of the audio - please post.  And Neuros .. are you listening? ... how about a fix for these problems?  Can you give us a firmware update that fixes these things?

Are you experiencing this problem with a fairly new system.
The reason I ask is that I had a similiar problem, hum with white
lines across the screen. I soon learned that it was the new cables.
They need to be worn in. I actually took a piece very very fine sand
paper to the chrome on the jacks (very slight) and it resolved both
issues.

I would recommend you upgrade your firmware to the one we released today.  It should make a difference. Check: http://www.neurostechnology.com/support/support_MPEG4_R2updates.asp
