Title: Error 0x2828
Post by: Xarlos on September 30, 2006, 11:17:39 AM
Last time this showed up here was a little over a year ago.

It is archived now.

So I refer everyone to the archived message:

Oh!  Hell!  I can't get the HTML right for this messageboard!

I am guessing I am not the only one to have seen this error message come up.

This one requires a strong cup of coffee!

"Groovykid"  is right.  It does require reformatting the Neuros drive.  But you don't have to back everything up as the database is still intact.  But if you have moved anything, you'll have to readdress the playlists.  That is a PIA!

Steps:

1.)  On the Neuros:  Disconnect the control panel from the backpack.
2.)  Connect the USB2 and power cord to the backpack.
3.)  Access the Neuros drive via Windows Explorer and delete the music directory.
4.)  In Windows Explorer, right click on the Neuros drive and select "format".  Do the long format.  It may not take!  In this case you will have to back out to your desktop and:

a.)  Right click "My Computer" and left click "Manage"
b.)  Delete the partition to the Neuros Drive.
c.)  Repartition and quick format the Neuros Drive - this should take.  If this step fails, likely you have a "blowed-up" (technical term) hard drive.  See insructions for replacing Neoros HD.

5.)  Reconnect Neuros Control Panel to Backpack and reconnect the USB and power cords.  -  The dreaded error message should be gone.  If it is not, repeat Steps 4a theough 4c.
6.)  Open NSM.
7.)  Test 1 - Remove from Neuros all playlists and tracks and synchronize.  If this test succeeds, proceed to step 8.   If this test fails, return to Step 1.
8.)  Test 2 - Now add one or two playlists to Neuros.  If this test succeeds, proceed to step 9.  If this test fails, return to Step 1.
9.)  You are now ready to reenter all playlists.

But:

The source of the problem:

I am only guessing but I think that it has something to do with turning off the Neuros too soon after synchronization.  I think that it kinda' chokes up the hard drive.

So remember, after synchronization, and after you disconnect the USB, leave the Neuros on for a while.  How long?  Depends how much stuff you have on it.  The more - the longer.  Keep checking the "Neuros Audio" option on the main menu.  If you shut it off while it is still busy, you may encounter problems.  As soon as it is no longer busy, it is safe to shut down.
