Title: White Vertical Line and Background Noise Post by: Hank_Chinaski on November 04, 2006, 07:39:52 AM After 2 frustrating weeks in which I have had problems with the Scart leads provided, then the set-up of the system I purchased a SCART switch to get the bloody thing to work with my satellite decoder. Having now got it working with the decoder I get poor quality sound and white vertical lines that scroll across the screen. I am no technopobe but feel that the product is not that easy to configure unless you refer to the forums and spend days playing around with all of the options.
Why bundle in the SCART connectors when they don't work ? The hassle of setting this recorder up is a nightmare and the support has been patchy. It was another forum member that pointed me towards the SCART switch. Can anyone help? I am about to throw this overpriced gadget in the bin. Why can't you just plug it in and away you go ???? >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( Title: Re: White Vertical Line and Background Noise Post by: dongle on November 05, 2006, 03:50:58 AM The quality of the supplied scart leads is poor to say the least. They are also labelled video in & video out but this refers to the connected equipment not the R2 connections - this causes immediate confusion !. I had a look inside the scart connectors whilst sorting out a replacement RCA type lead. The earth pin is not even soldered to the metal shield - it is just pushed between the plastic case and shield - worth checking. I would have much preferred RCA connectors in the box but Neuros seem to think that everyone in Europe uses scart for everything !. I now use RCA & scart adaptors where necessary.
Having said all this the R2 did work first time with the scart leads and I have just received a replacement unit that also worked first time so my experience has been positive. I think you will find that the majority of R2 users have been able to plug & play. My R2 failed with heavily distorted audio and "pulsing video".... Have you tried a different video source ?. I cannot comment on the symptoms but suggest you contact Neuros direct and arrange for a replacement. I purchased my R2 from sendit.com and they sent a new R2 before I had even posted the old one !. Finally, the R2 does work well but be aware of the 2 hour recording limit which still has not been sorted. |
