1  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: Battery failure? on: February 19, 2006, 09:14:23 PM
I just checked when I bought it -- I actually bought it in april of last year. So I guess I've had it under a year. I'll call Neuros tomorrow and see if they can do anything.

Thanks again for the help. If you mean the mini-usb port on the backpack, I tried that, nothing happens when I plug into it. If you mean the USB port on the main neuros, I don't have a USB adapter that will fit it, so I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks for the reply. I took the Neuros unit out of the backpack and plugged the AC adapter into just the backpack. There is a small light to the right of the ac adapter port in the backpack that is normally covered by the main unit when it's in the backpack. I never noticed it before so I'm not sure what it should be doing, but right now it doesn't do anything when I plug in the AC adapter. Is this the light to which you are referring?

Okay, so I've had my 40GB Neuros (not sure if it's a Neuros I or II. How do I tell?) for over a year. With the exception of having to reformat the flash shortly after I got it, I've never had a single problem with it. So -- last night I drove on a two hour car trip in weather that was certainly warmer than usual for this time of year. I was running the neuros on the car charger. When I got to where I was going, I disconnected the car charger before turning off the car, and turned off the neuros. Went in.

Several hours later I was leaving, went out to the car about 3AM. The temperature had dropped to 10 degrees farenheit in the interim. I got into the car, started it, plugged the neuros into the car charger, and it came on, as usual. It ran for about 10 seconds, then said, "Low battery, shutting down", and shut down. For the 2 hour drive back, I had it plugged into with the car charger. The back light to the screen kept coming on, at varying levels of brightness, it would get dimmer and brighter and dimmer and brighter, and then go out again. No text of any sort ever displayed on the screen.

When I got home I plugged it into the AC adapter (about an hour ago). I haven't seen anything happen at all.

So, does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, or how it can be fixed? Is my neuros just hosed?
