Didn't have a problem with mine shifting, and (speaking as the tech-type here) didn't have a problem with the manual, which held about as much information as the Roomba manual did.
The only two negatives I have so far is that the on/off switch isn't as quick to respond as I'd like (this might be addressed by allowing the button to sink in a bit further when it's on. Yes, I do see the power light, but haven't learned to trust it yet. This is a piddly little detail, however.) The buttons and menus, while intuitive to me may not be as intuitive to others.
I'm currently playing with mine, and I can see that it's going to get a LOT of use in the future!
