Thanks for the info. How do I format this microdrive before I record on it? The drive is always empty when I record on it. I dump all recorded files to my hard drive. I did notice that there were 3 different folders when I transferred the movie file to my computer. The folders were empty except the movie I recorded.

I have a 4GB Hitachi Micro Drive I bought from Best Buy and when I recorded a DVD movie about an hour or so into the movie the movie freezes and stops many times.I doubt that the drive is bad as I have also used it in my digital camera and have taken many photos with it.I also recorded the same movie twice at economy once and at normal the 2nd time. The movie froze at different times on each ocassion.What could be the problem? I played back the movie on my DVD player and it plays fine all the way thru.Also when will this recorder record longer than 2 hours on 1 file? I have been hearing about firmware update for this now for almost 3 months. Had I knew that I would not have bought this recorder.Any help here is much appreciated.

Just got my recorder pluged it in pulled tab on remote to activate battery and the remote wont even turn machine off or on. The green light comes on when you plug it in but the remote will not turn it off? What the hell is the deal here. Is this brand new product sent to me with a bad remote control battery?
