1  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Menu selections - are they saved with power removed? on: November 28, 2006, 06:21:00 AM
I am curious about 'Dongle's' reply  stating the auto record is swithched back to 'off'  I have been using the new firm ware since is was released.  I use the recorder on the run with a battery which requires charging each day so the rocrder is without power for 2 or 3 days sometimes and all the menu setting stay the same.  Bonus.  My recorder even keeps the date time, which I am guessing is as a result of caps built into the unit.  Got to love your Neuros

Hi Joe

Patch form Australia.  Watched your video and enjoyed it, Thanks.  I am nothing when it comes to video but I have/do play a little.  I think your right to cann this one not because of the content, you or even the quality but rather you only used one camera.  At the very least you want 2 cameras 3 if possible set up 1/2  as you had it this time but tighten up the shot a little and have them on oposite sides of the room.  Then 2/3 camera if you can get a camera man...sorry person so they can pan the audiance product etc.  If the circumstances wouldn't allow for camera 2 & 3 and your stuck with 1 camera take as much extra foottage before and after as you can at the loction including product.  It will give you something to work with later.

3  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Hidden files on: August 27, 2006, 10:41:00 PM
I use my recorder II in way for which It was not 'designed' but is perfect.  For this I use a 5vlt bty and have had no problems, except on occasion if the lead comes out and the recorder losses power the file is unreadable and has a recorded size of 0 kb.  If you delete the file and then do a properties check on the card it might show, for example 350mb of space used, yet all the files are deleted.  I'm guessing that the recorded data is still somewhere hidden because the recorder did not have a chance to finalise it before the aburpt loss of power.

Q1. Is this correct?
Q2. How can I fine the hidden file ?
Q3. Is there any way for 'fixing' the file so that the data recorded is viewable?

This problem has been mentioned in passing on a previous post but I can't find it.  Sorry

Any help very much appricated

4  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Possible Bug When Storage Space Is Low on: August 27, 2006, 10:56:20 AM
Hey there neo989,

No takers so far on your inquiry so this is the story as told to me by someone seemingly wise:

The Mpeg4 recording program compresses the information recieved which is why we can fit so much more on a small space.  If the AV in is simple programs with lots of studio shots landscapes etc the program will compress heaps.  If the AV is complex lots of action different camera angles its harder to compress and requires more info to be retained result bigger file.so sometimes 1 hour is 400 mb and then 550mb only gets you 40min.  I know it is frustrating but that is why life is worth living, good would not be as sweet where it not for the bad aka frustrating

Patch

If someone else knows better please correct me

Hi there Primaris,

Had a look at your link to the ebay camera and it would work fine i noted that the deal included a mic which would be an inline powered mic which again would be perfect for this application.  Just a note the Neuros leads are rca so 'might' need an addaptor for the lead form the camera. cost you a dollar from any Tandy store or alike.  Also the neuros records in stereo so get a 2-1 rca connector to get the audio on both channels again easy to get and cheap.

The recorder comes with a remote with a one touch record when the unit is live so no need for a screen in car just be sure of the position of camera.  Don't connect it upside down like I have in the past.

Power will have to come for a reguated source again shop around for a 12vt to 5vlt pos centre REGULATED source especially it you use the car bty as it can spike with rev changes etc.

The device is marketed as an in home unit so extreme sports will put any claims against defect at risk but I have done lots with mine without failure so live a little  Grin

Patch

PS there is a little red light on the recorder which comes on when its recording - very handy

Hi,

I sent a message to Neuros support about the auto record feature just last week and got this response which indicates that they are still trying at least

Patch  Huh

Hello Patrick,

We are still waiting to hear from our firmware team on any new developments for the auto record feature and various upgrades and fixes.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

What would this unit cost and just how available will it be or will it be DIY.  Any photos of the proto type

Thnaks for the repy and I had followed that post, but I don't want to compermise the integraty of the unit and would prefer a fix to (what seems to a lay person) to be a simple bug fix.  Or has it been dumped as a fix.

Also on a seperate note.  Has anyone at neuros considered puting a clock bty into the recorder simular to digital cameras so that it keeps the date time setting when unpluged

Thanks

I know that this subject has been covered before.  When you use the auto recod feature it works fine the 1st time then goes off auto recod which leaves subsequent video feeds unrecorded.  Any news on a firm ware fix for this.  I notice the 2.7 PSP issue was rectified quickly.  Great product very happy, but for this one thing which would make life perfect at this end.  Any news on the subject very much appreciated
