My portable devices use an SD card---Palm E2, and an mp3 player, plus my digital camera.  So my question is this: The Recorder 2 does not accept the SD cards.

I also own a Palm TX, and a Canon SD100 digital camera that use Secure Digital Memory. With the CF to SD memory card adapter you can use the SD memory card inside the Recorder2 with the adapter, and it works like a charm. I have made recordings to playback on my Palm TX!

Does the R2 have any type of LED or other indicator light to assist in knowing it is in the "record" mode?

Yes it does. It has a green led that shines when the recorder has power, and it turns red when you are recording.

To my knowledge, we have not tested 4GB SD card with the Recorder 2 yet.

I just recieved my Transcend 4GB Ultra Speed (150X) Secure Digital Card, and it works perfectly with the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 and the CF to SD adapter purchased through the Neuros Shop.

The  EagleTec CF to SD card adapter that I initially purchased works with the Transcend 4GB SD card on the computer, but with the Neuros Recorder2 it displays the file structure of the SD card but it wont display the contents of the folders - Wierd I know. However, if I formatted the 4GB SD card using the EagleTec CF to SD card adapter inside the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder2 maybe the SD card using the EagleTec adapter might respond better with the Recorder2.

But right out of the package the Neuros Shop CF to SD card adapter works fine with the Transcend 4GB SD card with the Recorder 2. FYI, Thanks!

I bought a good "Kingston Elite Pro 2GB Compact Flash Memory Card" from Buy.com (it will end up costing me about $34 After MIR & coupon[Cheesy]) and it has performed excellently with my R2! The SanDisk Extreme III cards are expensive, and you can get twice the capacity for half the price of the SanDisk Extreme card and still not have to compromise that much on read/write speed.

I can verify what HOOKSET originally posted that the EagleTec CF to SD card adapter "the Recorder2 will not recognize" that a card is inserted into the Recorder2 using the EagleTec adapter. I will try another SD card. [Sad]

Has this "SD/MMC to CF Card Adapter," that the Neuros
Shop is selling, been tested with a 4GB SD Card?

And will the Neuros Recorder be able to access the
full amount of available memory space? How is the
read/write performance compared to that of using
a Compact Flash card?

Thanks!

5  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / More Codecs on: May 01, 2006, 12:38:28 AM
I am still testing my Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2, though I wish it could playback more multimedia codecs. So far it can playback SOME asf, avi, mp4, wma, and mp3 files. Most of the video clips family/friends email me cannot be playback through the Recorder 2 and they are asf and avi files. Same for media files available through Yahoo and Google that are already in the mp4 format, I have not been able to playback successfully with the Recorder 2. I haven't had an oportunity to test the DivX playback capability, but the AVI files created by my old Canon SD100 digital camera do not playback with the Neuros MPEG-4 recorder 2. [Sad]

Can the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 playback MS Windows Media 9 ASF encoded files?HuhHuh [Sad]

It would be nice if a future firmware upgrade could address this and improve the codecs enabling the recorder 2 to be able to playback more multimedia files: mpg, mov, qt, and ALL AVI, ASF TYPES. Maybe ogg and flac?

In the WQVGA recording option why is there only Normal and Economic settings, and not better recording options? SONY PSP, Cowon iAudio, and Palm and Pocket PCs, and other wide screen PMP devices could playback a FINE/SuperFine WQVGA recording (if there was one.)

Still no news on if the Neuros shop will be selling any CF to SD/MMC adapters like those produced by Eagletek.

It was horrible that the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 did not have the PC interface that the previous Recorder 1 contains.

In a Recorder 3 version I would like to see if external USB storage devices could be attached to the Recorder to utilize the storage and be able to access media files off of the external storage.

USBOTG hardware chips exist that could enable the Recorder to act as a USB HOST and external usb devices could be connected to the recorder. But I would like to see something more like TRUE USB capabilities where external hard drives could be connected to the Recorder and be utilized to read and write to and from.

Thanks.

FJ, any news on if you are going to be selling the CF to SD/MMC adapters like those produced by Eagletek on your website? When and approximately how much?

Did you ever test the Eagletek CF to SD adapter in the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2? Was the adapter and MPEG-4 Recorder 2 able read and write to a 2GB or larger SD memory card to its full capacity?

I am getting ready to purchase a CF to SD adapter off from EBay or from Brando, but would like to see what the Neuros Shop has to offer.

HOOKSET, which SD to CF converter did you purchase? Can you post the Ebay Item number from the converter you purchased. Is it similar to Ebay Item number: 7613377216?

Thanks!

7  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Volume of Audio too low on: April 08, 2006, 03:41:50 PM
I connected from the audio out of my VCR into a Xin SuperMacro Headphone AMP (increased the audio output of the portable amp significantly,) and output the audio into the cable that came with the Recorder 2 into the recorder 2 itself - and I didn't find any increase in the volume. [Sad]

Is the line input to the Neuros Recorder 2, audio fixed to a certain volume?Huh?

Yes I am curious about CF to SD adapters also for the Recorder 2. I would like to use a CF to SD adapter so that I can use my SD Memory cards in my Neuros Recorder 2 device (My Digital Camera and PDA use SD Memory. But I wanted the Recorder 2 for its higher quality MPEG4 recording that the Recorder 1 didn't support.)

I have seen similar cards to this one ...

http://www.adorama.com/ICD17I1CFA.html?searchinfo=Jobo%20CompactFlash%20Card%20Adapter&item;_no=1

Where a SD card can be used in a CF slot, however you might only be able to use < 512MB SD Cards, I am not sure if the => 1GB SD Memory cards are supported. Anybody using a similar adapter successfully in their Neuros Recorder 2?

There were also CF to SD internal card adapters where the SD card would fit inside a CF adapter and fit inside the cardslot for a Digital Camera, but I have not been able to find a retailer still selling such an adapter - and some reviews that I have read on the net reported that such an adapter card didn't work with => 1GB SD Memory Cards. [Sad]

10  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Successive Recordings on Different Channels on: March 26, 2006, 09:46:46 PM
Hello Everybody, I am expecting my Recorder 2 to arrive this wednesday (3/29,) but I also have been thinking about how to enable programmable recording with the Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 on Different Channels.

Yes, and I mentioned VCRs because they can schedule different channels at different times. That's how I use my N1.

When using this setup: Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 and VCR you have to program the VCR, have a VHS Video tape inside the player recording, and the Neuros Recorder recording all at the same time? You are making two recordings and using 2 different recorders.

On the other hand, there are programmable universal remote controls that allow you to program into their memory, and the remote control will switch the channels/etc. for you.

Also I was thinking of programming my PDA with an IR Remote Control Program to control the start of the recording, and the changing of the channels for the Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 to record.

What is everybody else using? Any other ideas? THANKS!
