1  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: Car charger on: July 03, 2006, 09:37:53 PM
Almost any off the shelf multi-volt car adapter should work woth these, set your mind at ease along that line.

As for the player here is my take on it:

Pros:
44.1k Wav line in recording - big plus
Built in mic
FM Transmitter - transmitts on any channel
FM receiver
FM Recording
Big HD
USB 2.0
Backpack can be used as an external 80GB HD without power adapter
Support for ogg and wav formats

Cons:
Internal Battery - not-swapable
A bit big and clunky
clumsy OS
DSP based - cannot get rockbox os
OS is clumsy - searching for files is rough
playlists are not easily managed
Music library could be better aranged
have to delete files one by one, can't delete complete albums without connecting to a computer.
detachable "brain" does not work as an independant player

summary -
Would I buy one again? Yes, but only because I use the recording funtion and the FM transmitter all the time.  Also, since I deal with a lot of wav files, the 80 GB HD is a must.  If I did not need these three features, I definately would not buy this player.  It is more of a geek thing that the average user.  It is not fun to opperate.  The OS is clunky and slow.  In short, a great recorder, but rather lousy player.

Are you talking about the case logic case for the NII player?  This case is a sort of coarse pleather, not neoprene.  The only case I am aware of is this one - http://tinyurl.com/ng9yo

Thanks a lot.  That did the job and now I have a fully functioning device again.
Much appreciated.

I purchased a NII 80gb on the current sale.  It has worked fine now for about 5 months, but now will no longer power down.

It also is having problems interfacing with the computer - will not connect via USB 2.0 with the player connected - only if plugged in as a backpack alone.

I can sync with usb 1, but that is too slow as the main purpose for this recorder is recording 44.1K wav - large files.  I am a sound tech, and use this device on a regular basis for quick or backup recording - or whenever I can't bring a full fledged 24 track PC recording system.

I did a firmware update to no avail.  If I am correct this issue started once when I left the player on pause for several hours and the batteries ran dead in the process.

Anyone know what is happening here or how to fix it?

That really shoul,dn't be a problem as these files are only about an hour long.  Nothing it should balk at.  Check to see if the files will play on your computer, as I play 2 hour long WAV files without a problem ~ 1.3 gigs.

I got mine because it is one of the few players that support 44.1k wav recording.  If this, ogg playback, and the built in FM transmitter are unimportant to you, I would advise another player.  If these things do matter, as they did for me, by all mean get it.
