1  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Using it as a blackbox - is there a continuous recording mode possible? on: November 24, 2006, 05:42:11 PM
I'm thinking to purchase the recorder so I can use it as a blackbox in my car.
If that would work, it would be fantastic.

The auto record feature is great for that since the recording can start automatically as soon as I turn on ignition.

However, I will need the recordings only occasionally, whenever an accident was recorded.

Is the unit capable of automatically deleting the oldest record when the card is full in order to make room on the media ?
That could be done either on startup, either on memory full event.

I'm not expecting the hard drive itself to have motion sensors and I certainly appreciate your advice not to drop hard drives.

The fact is that anything on the planet may get dropped at one point or another and that will continue as long as we'll have gravity.

The shock detection systems have been already implemented in laptops. See Apple, IBM.

This is what I'm talking about.

I was wondering if the Neuros has something like that, that's all.

I would like to know if the HD has a shock sensor/protection feature ?

I mean: will it turn itself off before hitting the ground if it's being dropped ?
