Hello. I have been reading about the Neuros OSD that will replace the current MPEG4 II recorder. To date I have not been able to play any of the sample videos on my linux pda due to an error with the audio stream (MP4 - MPEG-4 SP/MPEG-4 AAC). I see that the OSD will have the ability to record in additional formats (ASF - MPEG-4 SP/ADPCM(G.726) and MPEG-4 SP/MP3). Is there any way to get a sample 640x480 ASF MPEG-4 SP/MP3 file for testing on my device? Many people in the Zaurus community are looking for an easy way to encode videos and I see this as the best option.
How hard would it be to implement other standard recording formats? MPEG1 or MPEG2 may not produce files as small, but should work on more devices. I'm sure this has been asked and maybe I missed something scanning the forums. For that I do apologize.
I am very much leaning towards getting one of these devices. I am glad Neuros is listening to their customers.
I've managed to get the 640x480 videos working. They all look great using Kino (front-end) and mplayer (back-end). The problem I have now is no audio. Still working at it and I'll be sure to post my results when I get it working.
Update - I've tried everything I can think of and read online. Still no audio. Looking at the debug output indicates errors in the audio stream so I'm guessing linux doesn't like this format.
Can this device record in other formats? I created another thread regarding this question. I hope the answer is yes or that it will have the ability in the future.
I just tried the sample files and none of them play on my Zaurus. Since it runs linux I'll have to look into getting a codec for it. If I can get the sample files to play I'll definately get one of these units.
I would like to know if there is a store in Toronto, Ontario that sells this product. It looks like a simple way for me to encode movies for playback on my Zaurus at 640x480. Has anyone tried this with a Sharp Zaurus product?
