As the proud new owner of an Archos 604 wifi, I can say that the bar may be a little too high for you guys. The clunky, and frustrating, user interface in the R2+ has relegated the unit to doing simple grunt work.
The top of my entertainment center is now crowned with the 604 wifi dock, and the R2+ lives in its box until I need to record a DVD or camcorder transfer.
The lesson I learned is do your homework and see what's out there and compare specs FIRST, before you invest. When I discovered the 604 wifi, I even gave away my Zen Vision M to a family member.
Please check out the 604 wifi before commiting to anything, because Archos is on a fast track, and quite possibly an iPod & Zune killer for the baby-boomers like me that appreciate a larger very high quality screen, and we're willing to pay more for something really good.
Sure, there are the loyalists here that will tell you what you want to hear, but you should seriously take a look at your competitors. The 604 wifi user interface is VERY friendly and loaded with bells and whistles.

P.S. Since the Archos product supports Macrovision and will not play recorded DVD's on the "tv out" port, the R2+ has become a handy way of recording DVD's in realtime without them getting infected with DRM. So I'm glad to have purchased it even with the clunky interface. You guys did OK on that one.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Considering buying

Don't blame Neuros for "moving along", they can't get stuck on one product in a market that's rapidly evolving. The R2+ is a simple device that performs a simple task.
Personally, I only use it to record DVD's in realtime or to transfer home video from tape to SD.
As far as everyday recording I have an Archos 604 wifi, and I consider the R2+ as an accessory, not as a primary "does all" device. It's just another tool in my arsenal.
As far as the IR Blaster feature is concerned, you STILL have to go to the program guide on your sat box to see what's coming up, how hard is it to just press the auto-tune button at that time, then set up the start/stop on the R2+? This procedure will guard against overlapping recordings as well.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Adobe Premier help required

I have heard repeatedly that Pinnacle is the bottom-of-the-barrel in video editing.
As for the other gentleman's comment that Sony Vegas is "cheap", I would agree that it's quite cheap for something that actually works and works well without codec bugs and crashing.
Having an intuitive, stable, and fun video editor like Sony Vegas Platinum 7 is worth several hundred dollars just for the pleasure factor and keeping from pulling my hair out.
SSShhhhhh......Don't tell Sony......they might raise the price
Bud
P.S. Vegas Platinum 7 has SoundForge built in, so you don't need an outside sound editor. But it will also allow you to call up ANY sound editor like Audacity from within the editing screen, make your edit, then automatically update the soundtrack.

I suppose Adobe Premier is the bomb when it comes to regular editing for DVD and TV, but it is new to the portable media game, and they have tried to scab on support for lower bitrates and resolutions, with mixed results. Adobe has only recently embraced portable media because of stiff competition from Ulead and Sony.
