1  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - I need help! / Re: Neuros drivers on: November 04, 2006, 02:27:05 PM
If your windows 98 is up to date i think you can just attach the drive on the pc (USB) and just do an autosearch for NEW HARDWARE. Normally your system will see the 442 as a mass storage device (basically a external Harddrive) And then you can just work in explorer to put files on or off or whatever you want to do with it?

Tho this might work, i strongly suggest you get winXP or something. Cozz the PnP (Plug'n'Play) factor works alot better on it.

Lemme know if this was any help  for you   Wink

2  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - I need help! / Re: need help loading software or where to get downloads on: November 04, 2006, 02:23:21 PM
I just use mass storage and handle the 442 as a removable drive. So far i haven't got any problems with getting files on or off the 442.

In theory, when windows is set up correctly with the necesarry USB-drivers. You can do pretty much anything with the 442.
I sometimes use the 442 to copy large files (Anything goes really) from one pc and put them on another pc.

IF only they would keep working on the firmware abit, it would be alot better. (No need for extra gadgets, just take out all you can out of the 442  Tongue )
3  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - I need help! / Subtitles ??? on: November 04, 2006, 02:19:33 PM
A quick question. What kind of subtitle-filetypes are supported on the 442? I've tried various filetypes and converters but not a single filetype works.
It would be cool if it would accept srt files or something.

For now, i'm trying to implement subtitles in the video but that's taking alot of time and dosn't always come out how it's supposed to be.

Ok, granted, the display isn't 'that' bigg but when atached to a TV or something, it would be nice to have some sort of subtitling enabled  Wink
As it's allready implemented in the 442, it simply doesn't work or uses a non-standard filetype?

If anyone has any solutions, don't hesitate to tell me.

Thanx in advance!

4  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - Feedback and Discussion / Re: ffmpeg and .asf files on: November 04, 2006, 12:22:49 PM
OF course...

Easy as you're recoding the recording with "Xvid" in resolution 320*240. As the recorded file is a higher resolution, by incrementing the resolution, the filesize will decrease as well as will the Xvid codec make the file also smaller in a way.

Basically any program for encoding can do the trick. But it's a nice help for alot of people.

Thanx for the tip  Wink
5  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - Feedback and Discussion / Re: Archos 500 vs. 442 on: November 04, 2006, 12:18:56 PM
Well, for starters you shouldn't just forward any file (audio/video) straight to the 442. First you need to check what kind of codecs are used for encoding the movie/mp3. If the codec used isn't compatible for playback on the 442, then of course it won't work. You need to convert the file first on your pc/laptop and the put it on the 442. Also keep in mind that when the resolution of the movie exceeds the playable resolution of the 442 then you could get chocks, clicks and distortion in your videos as the 442 can only take 'so' much. Too bigg resolutions ask for more processing power and of course the 442 can only take 'so' much as stated in the Readme files and manuals

Hope to have helped you in any way...

6  Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - Feedback and Discussion / Zolid/Neuros 442 PMP on: November 04, 2006, 12:13:33 PM
Well, for starters, I would say, Nice work so far. I've been using the zolid PMP player with neuros 442 firmware with no problems at all.
I use it for mass storage capabilities at work and spare time. And in between play a movie or listen to some music while on the road/etc...

I have a few questions tho.
As i've read on the forums here, the support for the neuros442 has been put on a low profile (almost to a dead zero-activity even)
I totally understand the problems for keeping the 442 up to date when being hold back on hardware/issues.

The thing is, if there were some people interested in working on changes/updates on firmware basis, Would that be possible?
For instance, someone could make the menu work better/easier, and implement maybe some extra stuff in there. Although first thing is knowing how
the soft/hardware is setup to begin with. Perhaps there can be some excellent freeware/codecs implemented for more file-support. Although everything
has to work in cooperation with the hardware of the 442. The question is, if it can, why hqsn't it been done allready  Cheesy

Hope to hear some reactions soon.
