1  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Arg.....OSD keeps rebooting on: November 22, 2006, 04:14:44 PM
I don't think that its fair that Neuros make us pay for shipping of a defective unit. Mine works perfect for recording (my only real need for the OSD) but if it had a hardware problem and they ask me to pay for shipping, I will just return it.

I think we should wait until the features of the OSD work before we can start looking into enhancements... Tongue

You need to format your card with FAT32

With version 3.25-0.27 I've been able to record ASF files of up to 2 hours, I used a har drive in a generic USB enclosure and I record in normal quality MPEG4 and MP3. Hope this helps.

Both are FAT32
6  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: ASF recording works great but no AVI or MPEG-4 on: November 19, 2006, 10:07:18 AM
After downloaded and installing the .27 firmware upgrade, the OSD is starting to perform.  I have recorded up to 90 minutes of programming to my 4 Gig USB thumb drive.  This was in the ASF format.  Unfortunately, recording to Mpeg-4 shuts down after about 10 minutes, but does not cause the system to reboot.  I have no clue why it chooses to do this with Mpeg-4 but is very stable with ASF.

I also noticed that the AVI choice is no longer present on the recording format window.  I am particularly interested in recording to AVI (Divx) so that I can move the file to my stand alone player.  I sincerely hope that this will again be implemented.

All in all, I am very pleased at the progress made in this release and I hope it bodes well for the future of the OSD.

I had the same problem with my MP#G-4 recording.  Turns out that it's a "knwon issue" that the MPEG-4 recording can only go for 14 minutes long before it stops.  I'm not sure why 14 minutes is the upper bound, but I'm just a lowly end user.

Were you able to play your .ASF files on a Windows PC?  I tried plying one of the ASFs I recorded on my Windows PC through Media Player 9.0, and was told that I was missing a codec.  Windows Media Player couldn't find the proper codec to download, though.  It plays well on the OSD, but not on my PC.  Any thoughts?

you can play them using either VLC or Media Player Classic.

7  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / USB Drives in 3.25-0.27 on: November 18, 2006, 08:03:07 AM
Ok, 27 is supposed to support multi partition hard drives, I have a 40GB hard drive which I partition in 2 20GB drives, when I plugged it in the OSD, I can only see one? Any idea why?

Record MP4 files, the longest recording length is only about 14 minutes. This is a known issuse. So if you want to record for long time, you can choose record ASF file format.

You were right, it worked like a charm when I switch to ASF. Now is it a known issue too that you can't change the codecs? I can change the format (AVI, ASF, MP4) without a problem but not the codecs.

Recording on CF, MMC, USB on 3.25-0.23 will be more stable.

My OSD have 3.25-0.23 installed. When I try to use MMC, the OSD won't even start recording, it is stuck in the record screen. My OSD  only works with the USB hard drive.

Just to complement my question, which is the best combination to be able to record? For those of you currently recording hours of content, what do you use?
12  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / How can I make it work? on: November 11, 2006, 01:45:59 PM
I just got my OSD yesterday and I was happy as a clam, then really hit me, this is indeed a Gamma product  , at least I see a lot of potential and definitely I will keep trying to use it in the hopes that all the issues can be worked out and I can finally use it. OK, so far I've been unable to record a program for more than 10mins, usually the OSD resets and it's over, I've tried with a 128MB MMC card and for some reason I can't make the OSD to even try to write to it (I even tried with an SD Card but I know there are problems). So I have a Hard drive in a Dynex USB 2.0 enclosure, which the OSD recognized , so these are the settings I am using:

- Unknown device.
- MP4 with ACC audio (I can't change the codec but that's another post)
- Economic
- Save to MMC (really it doens't matter what I put in here, the OSD will record in the hard drive)

Around 10 mins into the recording the OSD resets. Any clue? My hard drive is an 80GB, since I know 80 GB is too big for FAT32 I created remove all partitions, recreate only 1 with 10GB space and I format it with FAT32.

Any ideas why I can't record more than 10mins?
