After my last sync and automatic firmware update, my neuros keeps resetting itself. I turn it on and the main menu comes up, but it then immediately turns itself off, then back on, then off, lather, rinse, repeat. It goes through 2 or three cycles per second. This behavior occurs with the power cord plugged in; without it, it doesn't come on at all. What the heck is going on? How can I make it stop? It's useless in this condition...

Take the brain off the backpack and charge the backpack itself overnight.

Kronin is right, that should fix your problem...

The dissapointment of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a cheap price...

That happens to mine (Neuros HD grey unit) when the battery is too low and it's plugged in.  The Neuros will try to spin the hard drive, but the "low battery"  warning will tell the player to shut off.  I usually just let it do that for a little while and it will eventually be fine.  I don't know if the Neuros I units will charge if the backpack's not connected, but the Neuros II units do.

I'm not sure why it isn't immediately running off DC power.  Maybe it has to do a check or something.

You'll have to look on eBay or somewhere else.  The Neuros DAPs are discontinued so you won't be able to find spare backpacks on here, except for the full 80GB units that NT is trying to clear out.  You can try www.americantechpushers.com , which is a reseller for Neuros and whose owner (I think he's the owner) Keith is on these forums.

Hey All,

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, I sent the unit back to Meuros and they said the HD crapped out, I bought a 80G HD from them for $95 and received the unit shortly afterward.  I originally had a 20GB HD, so I think the 60GB upgrade was worth it.

It's the Hard drive I am afraid.[Sad]

not necessarily the HD, it may have just been that particular unit.  It seems to be a problem when the unit gets too low on power and tries to start, even when plugged in.
