I have a Neuros 1 20g with the USB 2.0 backpack that I've had for a while now, but hadn't used for ages. Part of my reason for not using it is that it doesn't seem to take a charge anymore (from either car charger or wall charger) and taking faceplates off and on, plugging it into the computer, etc. all do absolutely nothing. I could send it in, but I'm sure it's out of warranty and I'd really like to move on to a smaller flash based player anyway (iAudio has some pretty nifty stuff).
Is there any way to get it to just run off of the wall power so I can at least use it as an external hard drive? Or is there any reason that someone might want an old neuros for projects of some sort?
I would just send it in for repair, but I don't want to shell out for the charges as I would likely just use it as a nifty external drive.

i would get a replacement battery, especially if you have not used it in a while. Batteries do not last forever. you should still be able to buy them from neuros and replace it yourself if you are so inclined.

Buy a torque screwdriver, lets show you how to take it apart and wire it for a wall charger.

yeah, navy, clue me in. I would like to know how to bypass the battery and run it straigt to the unit? How would i go about doing that?

I have a torx head screwdriver of the correct size and was actually just trying to disassemble it. I spose instructions would probably be beneficial. Email is just my username at gmail.com.

Wups, just figured it out. Took forever to find the neuros diy site. Hopefully I can get an extra battery from Neuros for not too much.

yeah, i would recommend getting the battery from neuros, I tried getting a higher capacity battery once and even after being careful and even using the circuit from the old battery on the new one managed to somehow fry a faceplate.

That was sortof my thought, I figure if I can get the battery direct from digital innovations it will be worth it just for the ease of plugging it right in without screwing around with the circuit board.
