Hey guys,

I just got my Neuros 80 Gig. It's my first real Mp3 player, and I'm very happy with it, but I just have one gripe: The track management sucks! I have Mp3s set up on my computer with a nested directory system, Artist->Album->Track, or just Album->Track for compilations. Each track is named 01 - Trackname.mp3, so that when I open a folder in Winamp, the tracks are automatically in order. It's very convenient.

However, it seems like the only way to organize tracks on the Neuros is with ID3 tags, something I never bothered with when I downloaded music. Now my files are all mixed up, I have a thousand artists listed because of the ID3 tags for compilation albums (which makes them impossible to navigate) and it's just and all-around mess. In order to fix it, I'd have to go through and manually fix the ID3 tags for about 3,000 songs. Not a fun prospect!

Can any of these alternative file managers allow me to set up my Neuros to use the same simple directory structure I've always used?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone out there can help me!

not sure about the file managers, but there are several programs out there that will enable you to quickly change your tags.

try, 'tag and rename', and 'the godfather' both are good for editing tags, and tag and rename will allow you to create tags from filenames and vice versa...they are very handy tools and they may help you.  i used them to quickly alter about 1000 songs.

I had a similar thing.  If you just dump (drag and drop) your existing file stucture onto your Neuros you can then access it an album at a time via File Browser on the Neuros.  It works for me.[Cheesy]

If you're using windows, I highly suggest you try ID3-TagIT.  This is the one I use the most.  You can download it for free at:
