Hi all,

I just got a Neuros II 80GB a few days ago and really like it so far.  I've been using it with NDBM under Suse Linux 9.3, but plan on trying out Sorune, since I hear that one can import your m3u playlists.

But... ever since day one I hear this repeated clicking/springing noise (ternk, ternk, ternk, ternk), usually 3 or 4 times, when I start playing a song, power up the unit, etc.  This isn't a sound I'm used to healthy hard drives making.  Is the hard drive messed up or likely to go bust sometime soon, or is this normal?

Well, it turns out what I was hearing was not normal. At least Neuros was pretty cool about it. They sent me a prepaid UPS label and off it went. I just got it back and it just seems to make the usual soft HD chatter when it's accessing the disk, and songs seems to start playing a lot sooner.

haha, I was going to put NO! in big letters, but it seems you answered your own question.

When I was a kid my mom used to tell me that curiosity killed the cat...What she forgot to tell me was that it also discovered the cat, invented the lightbulb, and forged the Neuros
