The Neuros LINK ships with a full distribution of Ubuntu Linux 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), and boasts an impressive array of capabilities.
  • 1080p H.264 video playback
  • HDMI (max resolution 1920x1200, 1080p) output
  • High-definition 6-channel Audio output
  • Optical S/PDIF audio output [not yet enabled through software]
  • Network connectivity via Ethernet and Wifi to allow streaming video
  • Software:
    • Seamless integration with Neuros.TV, a free service that lets you organize and watch Internet TV on your TV
    • MythTV as a local media frontend (and, transitioning to XBMC)
    • Open-source video players (MPlayer, VLC, Totem). A comprehensive list of formats, containers and media can be found on the above websites.
    • Transmission BitTorrent client pre-installed with Ubuntu
  • Note: DRM-protected content, such as most videos on the iTunes Store, will not [yet] play on the LINK.

Setting up the LINK is easy.

  1. Plug in the HDMI connector from your LINK to an open port on your TV

  2. Plug in the keyboard's USB receiver

  3. (Optional) Plug in the wired network cable, if used

  4. Plug in the LINK's operating system (also stored on a USB key)

  5. Change your TV to the correct HDMI input
  6. Turn on the LINK!

If you are using wireless, you will need to configure your wireless connection using these instructions.

Maintaining the LINK is easy.

The LINK runs on a USB flash drive. If ever you run into problems, simply download the latest image and reflash it on a PC. Full instructions are here.
