I received my 442 today, and everything seems to be working fine however when I got home tonight & started going through the manual on the CD-ROM I noticed a stand was supposed to be included. I opened the box back up and went through all the nooks and crannies, and saw an open spot where I assume the stand is supposed to be, but it was empty.

Did anyone receive this item in their box? Am I just unlucky or did that item not ship?

Thanks,
j-E

Ah, as far as i know there is no stand for this product. There should be a black case, an AC adapter, cables and a manual.

I have never heard of or seen a stand...it could have been a typo?

Yeah, all of those are in the box. I don't think it's a typo since there's a picture of it in the user manual PDF (page 7) with the word "Stand" beneath a picture of a black rubber or metal piece that looks like it would sit under/cradle the 442 to hold it up at an angle. :)

There is no stand, we had planned to put one in but didn't have time, and apparantly it never got taken out of the manual in time. Sorry about that.

D'oh! ;)

That's too bad. A stand would have been nice. I'm jealous. I don't get mine until tomorrow.

What about making the stand available as an accesory? If they simply weren't ready for this round of shipments, can we still buy them later?

UPDATE
----------------
I just looked at the pic in the 442 manual online. Looks pretty useful, and easy to carry. Is there enough "wiggle room" for the 442 to fit in the stand with the case on? For using with a television (play or record), or even to watch movies on a plane, something like this would be very useful.

Try this one for size... Looks like it could work OK...

http://www.archos.com/products/prw_500660.html

Archos 420: approx. 135 x 78 x 26 mm
442 : 136.1 x 78 x 26.5 mm

Close enough..?
