the battery and time icons can be turned off by pressing the menu button while a movie is playing and telling them to turn off...i think this can be done in the movie folder as well...
as far as the size goes. it depends on the size of the video...so the 442 could never EFFECTIVELY change it. Its like trying to change a widescreen to a full screen on your tv when playing a dvd...cant be done without cutting off some of the screen.
if you want the size to change you will have to encode the video with different dimensions
When I was a kid my mom used to tell me that curiosity killed the cat...What she forgot to tell me was that it also discovered the cat, invented the lightbulb, and forged the Neuros

Aha! That is good news that those can be turned off.
I understand your point about changing the size of the video. What I was referring to is that the video is being resized to play in a smaller rectangle than it was recorded at.
E.g. playing a video recorded at 640 x 480 will scale really well to a rectangle that is 320 x 240. However with the current playback when the battery and time are showing, the video does not seem to be using a narrow border around the screen and is thus being imaged into a rectangle that is maybe 310 x 230.
Sorry for the confusing way I worded the first message. Hopefully this is clearer.
