It would've been nice if the unit had S-Video input and output. My whole setup is currently wired for S-Video only, and my digital cable box will only output to either S-Video or RCA, same goes for my VHS
So, I'm out of luck as far as using the recording functions of this unit, unless I go to the trouble of switching both my digital cable box AND my VCR to RCA output if I ever want to record something in MPEG-4... which I bought in the first place because it was a faster solution than finding a blank tape, waiting for the recording to start, etc... The Neuros unit is 100% digital so it's very fast - but the setup I have to do completely negates any speed difference I have with my VHS. The only upside is that I can then transfer the files to my Mac for playback/archiving.
