I have the normal shutdown hang issue where my neuros says it's shutting down but never does, and I don't know whether that's something that can be fixed using the original firmware (2.28) or if I should update to and open source firmware. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to what I should do to fix my shutdown problem through using original firmware it would be appreciated. Otherwise if you know of good open source firmware that I could perhaps use instead I would really know which one you'd recomend.

And I'm not sure why but when I put my Neuros on shuffle playing all my music (about 2000 songs if that matters) I will get locked up as well. For example I'm listening to a song on random, then it will pick the next song to listen to, but instead of playing the song the whole player will lock up.

For the whole time I've had my mp3 player it has only once shut down normally...I'm not sure if maybe mine is having irregular issues as I just bought it, or if this is normal. I'd really like to keep this one because I like it a lot, I just don't want to be shafted out of $250 for something that occasionally works.

Thanks for any help,
Brian

As a follow up, I will post the reformat NAND instructions. This should fix your problems.

Turn the unit off by holding up on the joystick and pressing the Play button.
With the unit turned off and no cables attached, press and hold the 1 preset button, the 5 preset button and the Play button at the same time. You should boot into Diagnosis mode.

Right click on NAND (this is the internal flash chip on the player). Right click on Revive Bad Blocks disk and click YES when asked if you want to continue. Reviving Bad Blocks or Formatting the NAND will not affect the music on your hard drive.

After the Revive Bad Blocks step is complete, select Format NAND. Click YES.
When this step is completed, left click to return to the Diagnosis Menu. Select Exit.
