Hi All,
I just created a compatibility list of cards, devices and external hard drives on the wiki http://wiki.neurostechnology.com/index.php/Compatibility:The_Neuros_OSD.
It's a little lean right now and I thought that to better help fellow Neuros OSD community members and future owners, it may be nice to see what you guys are using with your Neuros OSD.
Feel free to update the wiki directly if you want,  but if you want to avoid the hassle, just post here and I'll update.

Just make sure you list the following:

Type of Device (memory card, external HD, portable media device, wireless router...)
Brand
Model #
Storage Capacity (if applicable)
File system out of the box  such as FAT32 vs NTFS (if applicable)
Tweaks needed to get it working with OSD (if  applicable)

Thanks,
Tim

External HD
Lacie ED Mini 500GB
Fat32 filesystem
used on network, login just as an smb share

I have used my iPod occationally, but the guesswork in finding the correct file drove me away from that

for my CF card - just program and small data storage
Lexar Professional 40x
256mb

I use an external 2.5" usb drive from Lacie,  Mobile drive 160Gb.
I reformatted it to EXT3 so I can use it without problems on both my Linux and Windows boxes as well. On Windows boxes I use the following tool to access my drive:

http://www.fs-driver.org/

It can mount both ext2 and ext3.

The drive works great with my OSD.

Jan

Sorry this is a little drawn out but I thought it was a good alternative to out of the box purchases and shows some linux commands which is what I am trying to learn. The more we learn the more we learn we need too.
Type of Device: external HD 3.5"
Brand: Coolmax external enclosure (Buy.com $18)
Storage Capacity:  Western Digital IDE model P/N: WD2500LB-55-EDA0  250GB (Woot.com $50)

Attached HD as a slave device internally to my linux box
Ran "parted /dev/hdb1" to partitioned and formated single partition, create, ext2 (within parted run "print [MINOR]" to get start and stop locations of your dirve)
Ran "tun2efs -j /dev/hdb1" to update it to ext3 format

I copied all my video files to the drive from the network computers.
Shut down computer removed drive
Set jumpers on HD to pins 9 & 10  (I believe it was labeled pw2)
next put the drive in the external enclosure
Attach to OSD, it now is found under /media/USB so can be ftp'd or telnet'd to from the network.
Besure to make it your default record too location.

Note: This does not act as a XP shared drive if attached to a Windows system, file system is not compatable I assume.
I did learn from "misteragony (Jan)" if you download and run the following XP program and assign a drive letter it wll now be an XP device when ever you want to attach it to a XP computer. (Case you want to take your video on the road.)
http://www.fs-driver.org/download/Ext2IFS_1_10c.exe

Update and a heads up: This last program will create an issue if you just unplug the USB connection using XP. So use the tray icon to remove hardware first before unplugging from the USB port. It will leave a attached drive icon  on your computer even if there is no device attached. Then next time you plug in the usb drive it will create a new icon with a new drive letter. (you will have to uninstall program to fix this issue) Also I am not sure it was from this program but after installing this on my laptop my wireless Netgear card went down, and then maybe it was just spooks.

CF card lexar pro Wa 2 GB 133x speed
CF card lexar 32 MB  4x speed (used to update firmware)
SD card lexar platinum  1 GB 40x speed (this card needs a power recycle to be recognized) not sure why

To connect my Neuros to my internet connection I am using 2 wall plugged ethernet bridges I purchased from Best Buy. You must have two of the bridges and also a router to hook up multiple computers/devices to your internet connection. Plug one ethernet bridge in to a power outlet closes to your router.  Plug the network cable in to your ethernet bridge and your router. Then plug the other ethernet bridge into a power outlet close to your Neuros then plug the network cable in to the Neuros and the ethernet bridge. To be certain the network connection is okay go to the settings menu and change your network connection from static to automatic. I have only tried these with a NetGear router, but they should also work with other routers.

This is the product details:
NetGear Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridge
XE102

*Sometimes the bridges are sold individually. I bought mine from Best Buy in a two pack. Some other stores may also sell them as a set.

I have so far used:

external HD
Brand SmartDrive
Model # Crossfire
Storage Capacity (if applicable) 250Gb
File system: FAT32
Tweaks: none

external HD
Brand SmartDrive
Model # Firelite USBFLB120
Storage Capacity (if applicable) 120Gb
FAT32
Tweaks: none (powered over the USB)

Note: both of the above drives had already been re-partitioned before use, as my Mac can't access FAT32 partitions of more than 32Gb

also an SD card, Kingston "ultimate 120x", 2Gb, Fat32

(I'm about to try a NAS drive, Iomega Storcenter, 1Tb, Samba)

I can now confirm the Iomega Storcenter 1Tb network drive can be seen for playback  and record.

I haven't yet figured out how to access files from my Mac over the network.
(I can see the machine, but not the shared folder)

Type of Device (memory card, external HD, portable media device, wireless router...)
Seagate Momentus Notebook Computer HDD in enclosure with USB connection
Model #
Storage Capacity 160GB
File system out of the box  FAT32 NTFS
Tweaks needed to get it working with OSD - unknown what I should do

This hard disk with enclosure is not recognized by the OSD.  It is USB powered and works well when plugged into my notebook USB port.  The OSD reads my USB flash drive well, so is the USB connection on the OSB not strong enough to power the HDD?  I can hear the drive spinning while it is plugged in there.  Any suggestions will be very appreciated since I would not like to have to buy any more hardware to get high capacity storage.  I read here that NTFS support was on the way, but has it already gotten into a upgrade release?

You should try to format it in FAT32.

I am using the Neuros OSD with my Belkin N1 Mimo wireless router (wired connection though obviously), and a LaCie 500 gigabyte Ethernet Mini Disk. It works like a dream, I am delighted with it.

I have the Neuros connected to my Sony HiFi and have connected my xbox to my Neuros as well.

In fact have a look at http://nashie.net/articles/?p=5 to have a look at some quick photos I took yesterday using my phone.

Currently Using the following:

1) OSD with latest stable firmware 3.33-1.53
2) Vantec Nexstar LX NAS enclosures with 320 GB (Fat 32). Uses SMB.
--> OSD has old SAMBA I think because I can mount these devieces and authenticate with my Debian box but not the
OSD itself.  The OSD sees the NAS drives and folder shares (note: Only if at least one PC is connected to my
network for some reason) but can't authenticate.  I even tried mounting the drives via telnet session with help
from the forums here.  Even if there is no password the unit will not log onto the shares.  So, I currently mount the
NAS drives using SMB with my Debian box, and then mount the Debian shares on my OSD.  I only tried one quick
record before I had to leave town.

3) I also use the wall bridges (85mb in theory). I use the Netgear x103 / 104 models.
4) Microcenter 2 GB USB thumb drive seems to wrok just fine.
5) 2 GB Scan Disk SRAM, and compact flash cards seem to work fine as well.
6) Currently hooked into my slingbox pro, but I havent been able to find a virtual remote for this thing yet to load.
