Is there any way to increase the recording volume?  Any way/tool to change it in the mpeg4 file after a recording?

My first test video, recording from the RCA output jacks of a Sony TV onto a fully updated (firmware v. 2.0.22) Neuros MPEG4 Recorder, has *really* low volume when played back.  Increasing/decreasing the TV's volume had no effect.  The test video was generated at 320x240 @ 30fps and the "fine" setting.

I tried playing it on my Treo using TCPMP as well as my Linux box using mplayer.  Both playback mechanisms had to be set to full volume for it to be audible at all.  I'm doubtful playback will be audible on a plane, even with my noise-cancelling/amplifying headphones.

Any thoughts or help on the topic would be appreciated!  Thanks,

Marc

When you are in record mode (full screen), press the volume button on the Recorder 2 remote.  Usually when the volume on the Recorder 2 is low, the recording will be low.  And changing the volume on the TV wont do nothing.  The volume buttons on the Recorder 2 remote are right below the power button.

There is no standard volume on DVD's. Some will be too low. Try turning the volume all the way up at your source as well as on the R2. Once the file is rendered there is no way to increase or decrease the "line" volume unless you re-render with a video editing program like Sony Vegas and up the volume within the program.

Stream clip has an option to increase the volume in it.. I turn it up +8 when re-encoding after editing out the commercials from my osd/R2 mpeg4 files. It works great in increasing the volume without distorting it very much..
