3 day's experience: cool looks etc. Easy upgrade to latest firmware via USB stick.

 Sad  Problems:

1) I was hoping to use my two 8GB MS Pro Duo cards in the PSP. The cards are OK: DVD ripping with Cucusoft plays in PSP brill.
OSD usually does not see the cards, with or without the adapter. Several reboots, with or without the card in place, reinsertions etc,  no help. When eventually does see the 8 GB, the recorded file is  corrupted. 2GB  OK but only if inserted without the adapter.
Any suggestions?

2) Recording (S-video input) : image compressed sideways and not the widescreen format in the PSP. Can this be set somewhere?

3)  "super Fine" setting records corrupted file, does not play in PSP (tho with dropped frames plays in OSD). "Fine" worked.

Any suggestions?

Just a quick question: what firmware version are you using? It'll help people answer.

Sorry: version 3.31 - 1.24.

Thanks for the interest.

Did your try to record via the PSP USB?

Do you use the PSP default settings? You have to use the default path and name foe the PSP to see the recorded files.

As for the 16/9 setting, we record with  a 4:3 format for now, just use the display option on thPSP to fit the image to the screen.

Thanks all.  I am using the default PSP setting, just  on "fine" rather than superfine. I played with the Advanced settings: none of the combinations were playable in the PSP. So I am back to the standard.

New developments for the thread:

1) 8GB MS Pro Duo is recordable via the PSP and USB connection. Initially I thought it did not see it but if you go into the"play" menu first then it recognises the size of the  MScard in the PSP, then you can record.  It does not see this size of card in the card reader. This is a bit of a pain: I need the whole kit in the living room (OSD, PSP, chargers, wires etc) rather than just "pop in a card".  Hopefully a future firmware will help.

2) I can record onto a 2GB card stright in the OSD, I managed with shorter clips, manual stop at the end. But I find that at the end of a longer automatic recording (say one hour, I left it set 65 mins last night) in the morning the OSD was hung, the red light still on, the TV image frozen. So it did not "finalise" the recording. I had to reboot, which left the recording a corrupted file.

3) PSP doed not have a display set option  (orig. Sony firmware 3.4) , maybe a homebrew would. So I am stuck with the sideways squashed recording. Actually, I would be content with this if the rest of the niggles could be ironed out!

When you try to record straight to the memory stick, are you using the adapter or just the card itself?

I tried each. The 8GB is just ignored by the OSD. I even tried to leave the adapter in situ and just change the card to make sure I am not doing it wrong... 2 GB OK.

What card brand do you use? Sony, Sandisk?
If anybody can reproduce the issue with a 8GB card, please let us know

Both 8GB are SONY original. Actually the 2GB is Sandisk.
