wont reconize mp3/4 player

i have a sony nwz network player.  i plugged it into the osd and recorded tv a bit. i unplugged it file wouldnt play. so i plugged it back up and its not being reconized. though the player is charging and says connected. i unplug it a few times then pull the plug on the osd multiple times. after trying this about ten times the device is reconized. so i try the video again.it plays(changed the resolution) so i try to plug back in the usb device to record something else and here we go again.  i even tried formating the player(using its buit in format) .still it only reconizes one out of 20 tries
