I'm trying to save recordings to a server (in this case an XP Pro SP2 box)
The Neuros is set to DHCP and has picked up a valid IP
The box is on my network and I have full permissions.
I've also tried to attach an external USB drive to the Windows box.
I've even created a 32 GB FAT32 partition on the external drive.

I cannot "see" this through the Neuros.
When I go through the default settings for recording and try to save to network, it says "No items to List".
When I go through the "Play-Browse" menu and search the network, it sees my XP box, but when I try to log on, it says "No items to List".

How do I get it to record to a network drive. And preferably NTFS.

Thanks

Hey, I split this so it'll be more prominent.

First off, when you are going through the Recordings menu, you *must* have visited (i.e. connected) your network share beforehand for it to appear.

Now, let's deal with your network share not appearing. Have a look at this guide:
http://wiki.neurostechnology.com/index.php/Sharing_files_from_Windows
and see if it helps.

There were some issues with spaces in share names, so do make sure you're running a recent firmware.

OK. That makes sense. I'm used to Remote Desktop and didn't set the share specifically.
I just dismantled the set up so it may be awhile before I test this.

Next question: the volume.
At the moment, I'm using a 500 GB external drive via USB.
The only way it would see it at all is if I put a 32 GB FAT32 partition on it.
Are there restrictions for drive format and volume size I need to be aware of.

(BTW, I did update the software on the Neuros before testing)

Thanks again for your response.

Hey,
the 32GB restriction is only a Windows thing. You may format any drive under 2TB to FAT32. Neuros wrote up a nice guide here:
http://www.neurostechnology.com/files/support/osd/HowToReformatExtHDtoFAT32.pdf

There is another user "aab" who is having problems using his 500GB drive after using the above guide. Would you please try it out and tell us how the OSD manages with it, i.e. try recordig to it & playing back a file from it.
aab's post is here:
http://forums.neurostechnology.com/index.php?topic=8303

Hopefully you might help us shed some light on his problem!
Thank you!

Hi greyback

As you can see in "my" thread: http://forums.neurostechnology.com/index.php?topic=8394.0 the 32 GB issue is not only a windows thing. After partitioning below 32 GB each, i have a working OSD. Before it was hanging randomly.

Best regards

Hey,
I meant that Windows only allows you to format a drive with FAT32 to a maximum size of 32GB, even though in theory it allows up to 2TB. There are programs which allow you to format drives far greater than 32GB, but your problems seem to draw these solutions into question.

The thing is I myself have a 250GB drive with just one big 250GB FAT32 partition, and it works perfectly with the OSD. And I do believe many other people have similar setups. I was of the opinion that the Windows limit was artificial. Maybe not?
