I hope someone can help me. I recorded several home movies flawlessly. This morning I wanted to start copying some of my VHS Opera tapes and I keep getting a message that there is not enough room on the small memory stick (4 GB)! I tried my 500 GB back up drive and it did not recognize it. Can anyone help me, please Thanks!

Was the memory stick empty, or did it still have the home movies on it?
You may have to eject the memory stick and re-insert it, depending on what firmware you're using. (Go to Play/Browse, highlight the memory stick, press the xi button, and select "eject")
As for the backup drive, what file format does it use? (FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, EXT2, etc)?

FWIW my USB mains powered drive isn't recognized either.... (FAT32)
I bought the OSD a couple of days ago but had to upgrade to the latest firmware immediately - it was virtually unusable until I did.
The usb port worked (possibly intermittently) before the upgrade.

robber, What firmware version do you have on the unit? What USB drive do you have? (The fact that it's powered off of the mains helps in that it's not from lack of power, but there are still a few models that are quirky.)

I use my Lacie 500GB drive with my OSD all the time and today it is not recognized. Must be a bug in this latest firmware. I'm running version 3.33-2.09-00.871. This ruining Documentary Monday for me.

Chad, I'm using a nondescript drive enclosure with an IDE PATA drive in it. Has 2 FAT32 partitions.
Also using the latest OSD firmware (as of yesterday)
But now the OSD recognizes a USB memory stick...... But not the drive.

Well, if Gunderstorm is having issues too, it may be a bug in 2.09... You may want to downgrade to 2.08 for the time being and see if that fixes the problem.

I've run into this problem with the latest firmware. If I turn the hard drive off instead of unmounting it, I have to turn the Neuros off and back on to recognize the hard drive again. (It's an external 500 GB)
I'll try the eject...I didn't know about that feature!

I've never had to mount/unmount/eject my drive at all. Usually I plug it in and the OSD sees it. Now it does not. I've tested the drive and it works fine with other devices, even my XBox 360, so I know it isn't the drive.
I was trying to set up a scheduled recording when I discovered this. I used the Refresh several times before giving up.

I recently downgraded to 2.08 and OSD doesn't recognize my 500GB Hard drive (NTFS). What else could be the problem?

NTFS support is kinda dodgy to begin with... That could be the problem...
What kind of HDD is it? Does it plug into the wall for power, or all from the USB?

Its a Seagate SATA HDD that uses external power. Oh yeah Its actually an internal HDD that I put in a 3.5 enclosure.

My hard drive is a 500 GB iomega, external powered. I'm running into similar problems. For what it's worth, the "eject" didn't seem to do anything either. I still had the same problems.

So 2.09 is causing problems re-mounting a drive (it will mount once, then not again when disconnected and reconnected) and it continues when downgraded to 2.08?
I'd say it's time to file a bug in bugzilla. This sounds widespread enough that it's likely an issue with the new firmware.
