Neuros 442 Personal Media Player / Neuros 442 - I need help! / Re: Any help for a dead 442? Completly locked up

Is the HDD spinning OK? Did you drop it or bump the unit after the firmware update? If the HDD is fine, try to start your unit when it is connected to a wall adapter. If that does not work, try to reset it when still connected to the wall adaptor. I had the same problem after dropping my unit once and it seems like the issue was power related. I have not had a problem with the unit since.

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Video Quality

First, the video quality will depend on the quality of your source. What source are you recording from? If it is a DVD, you should not see many artifacts if any, if you record from a cable box, some channels have a much cleaner signal than others.
If this is not the source, make sure you have the last firmware update installed, the quality increases pretty much for every new release. Video playback is up to D1 (DVD quality), so you will be able to download and watch DiVX files for example that will look as good as a DVD. Just remember that recording quality will never be as good as a DVR like a TiVo though(even if we were encoding in MPEG2 instead of MPEG4) as the Recorder 2 encodes the analog video signal coming out of the video source. The artifacts you see are moslty due to the noise coming from the analog signal. In the case of a very noisy channel, you might be better of recording at QVGA resolution rather than VGA. (that happens with the 442 as well, sometimes recording at QVGA resolution look better than at HVGA resolution).

Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: PSP 2.7 problem?

Since the headers changed, there are 2 solutions, have Sony release an update or patch for FW 2.7 (to insure backward compatibility with the files created with the old neuros firmware for the R2), or use a conversion software for files created with the 1.3.9 firmware version and below. Although it is not ideal, using a conversion software is your best option for now. I would recommend VeMode http://vemode.corecodec.org/. I have tested it with various video files and it works as well if not better than most conversion softwares I have tested so far. It is also very easy to use. FJ

Thanks for the patience everybody. We should have the new firmware available by the end of the week. Again, if you can't wait for the final version, email me and I will be happy to send you the version we have been testing. To give you more info on the new features: Files created are compatible with the PSP 2.7 Firmware The audio recording level has been increased by 30% iPod users will have an optimized recording resolution (QVGA, 30fps, 1.5 Mbps, intead of 768kbps). We added a QVGA 15 fps setting for most smartphones and a QCIG (177x120) for Mobile phones. We slightly modified the file structure based on these new recording resolutions.

The official version should be released next week. With the addition of new recording resolutions, we need to help users make the right choice based on what device the files will be played back. If you really can not wait, email me, I will send you a link to the beta version of the firmware (just remember, it is a beta).
