I'm up and awake... but I don't see any changes to the web site as the subject of that mail would suggest...

This product isn't really designed with music playback as its prime purpose. The Neuros 3 will have ogg/vorbis.
Anyway, a very cool looking product. I look forward to seeing how well this does. You might want to restructure the forums a bit, or at least add categories for the recorder. |

I agree, but I think that if they go through the effort to support all the other codecs on the Neuros, they should also support Ogg Vorbis. Perhaps it'll be in a future firmware revision?
Remember that the Neuros didn't have Ogg Vorbis support originally either... I bought mine before it did on the promise from Neuros Audio (then a subsidiary of Digital Innovations) that it would soon have Ogg Vorbis support, and they released firmware supporting it not long after.

Hi All,
Joe can talk more about the recorder, but for me, personally, I see MP3 playback as a little extra, and the big idea is capturing your video.
To do that as well as it can be done is a project in itself. Like right now I'm working with a Mac tester for feedback, and recorded a minor glitch in how you eject the device. I think just to make sure it plays on all PDAs, is the priority.
The thing that I like about the recorder, and where it fits into "Open", is that most things that record video really bog you down with security. TiVo to go sounds neat, but if you play it too many times it expires. And the description of how to set it up made me dizzy.
Anyway, the site. All I will say is that I'm working with a great Web person, who did a great job doing all that you see on the site. So now we get to go forward with the spec sheets I've been creating over the months. I have about 30 pages of specificiations for the site, so the Web Guy and I are going to be making some schedules and I'll start cleaning up the site and adding some nice stuff. Including Neuros World.

That's very cool. The front part where it says "High-end earbuds, pre-amp external microphones and the syncbox." it looks kind of unprofessional.
But I'm just looking for something to complain about. Good job. I hope the whole site gets a good update.
By the way, can the mpeg-4 recorder interface with a Neuros and save directly to the HD? That'd be a sweet feature.

N3 is likely to be Q3 at the soonest, it's still in the planning stages. There are certainly reasons to buy the N2 besides just the fact that it's available now. It's certainly going to be a better value/GB and it does have the backpack architecture, which the N3 will not.
Otherwise the N3 will have all the features of the N2 and more and in a reduced size package. Exact terms of the N3 upgrade haven't been worked out, but you'll probably get two options, one will be a trade in, where we give you more than what the Neuros is actually worth (as a gesture of thanks) and a second option where you just get a discount on buying a N3 and we just allow you to keep the original.

Juicy stuff on the N3! I'll have to upgrade... again. =)
I wish you'd fix the front page so the grey boxes at the top would work in Opera. Please, please, please?

Grr, ok so just when I about have the money to buy a N2 I start hearing about the N3. Does anyone have an ETAon it and a price bracket? In theory with technology advancements it should actualy be cheaper than the N2 unless your apple and just charge more because it's new. Are there any OFFICIAL posts on this or just rumors?

Just like every software company I've worked with, once a new product is mentioned the old one just slowly starts to get less and less support.
The firmware beta (2.28) hasn't been made official or a newere one hasn't seen the light of the day.
And support seems like they're dragging their feet on returning e-mails. Oh yeah, I did get the 'obligatory' automated response twice, but nothing else.
