I just spent 2 week trouble shooting a 20G Fujitsu (POS) drive in a backpack to find out that a 40G IBM/Travelstar works. So anyone upgrading there backpack harddrive DO NOT use fujitsu. This might be old information but it should be a permenent sticky on the general information forum for newbies. BTW I got it off of ebay and it came with the fujitsu already in it.

Yeah, Cool4u2view's site says specifically to not use Fujitsu on the do-it-yourself page. He suggests IBM/Hitachi and maybe Toshiba. I don't know what the maybe means, but someone in the forums reported that his Toshiba worked. It also suggests using 4200RPM.

I've had 3 Hitachi drives go bad on me in less than 6 months. I ordered an additional Neuros 30Gb backpack (while my other is being fixed) and it came with a Toshiba, so that's good. I've also upgraded to Seagates in my 2 units and they work like a charm, so they're good. I just hope they are more durable than the IBM/Hitachi drives.

Procrastination is the key to flexibility.
