Hi Joe and all, Just wanting to say it appears as though the N3 has been forgotten. All of the postings on most of the forums I'm on are focusing on either the 442V2 or past issues with the N2. I work at a college in the Computing Center and talk with a lot of students regarding the "latest" items coming out. With the Holidays fast approaching, they are talking about all of the "new" products that are available for gifts, and what items are on their wish lists. As one might think iPod is on the top of it, all aspects and flavors of iPod from video to Nano. I feel that a lot of energy and time are being expended on a "high end" product (442) that can't compete with the iPod when it should be directed to the N3 that really does have an obvious chance of competing with iPod and iRiver, etc. I'm saddened by the "timing" as this Holiday could have been a large chuck of the pie had something significant been in place. The "complaints" I'm getting from students I show my N2 to as well as discuss the 442 and the up coming revisions in the V2 is that "they are too big"! I've explained that the N3 will be about the size as the standard iPod and their comment is, "when will it be available"? They are interested especially after they hear my N2 and are excited about the possibilities for the N3, but that momentum is being lost, rapidly. Please divert some of the energy from the 442-V2 to the N3 or you might loose a great opportunity! Understandably the 442 is like the proving ground for other innovations, but the focus for the N3 seems to be bogging down. But that's only what I see from my little corner of the world.

| It's too bad that the N3 is taking so long. I was going to pick a mp3 player for someone for christmas this year, and it looks like it will have to be a non-Neuros brand. :-( |

I hear you and it pains me too that we can't get the N3 to market more quickly, I can promise you that it has not been forgotten, and your messages are not falling on deaf ears.

Thank you Joe!
I pray that the "birth" of the N3 will not be as slow and painful as the 442's.
The N3 will be built with a lot of what is being learned by the 442 development; correct? If that's the case, then the time spent on the 442 will make the N3 a reality more quickly. Or is that a wrong assumption?

I guess an advantage of making the 442 first is that any mistakes in there will be improved in the Neuros 3. Hopefully things go smoothly from here on out. Good luck on the dev boards.
To be honest, I just really really want the N3 to replace my Neuros brick. I've thought of buying something else to replace it (like a Karma), but then I wouldn't have enough money for the Neuros 3. |

My thoughts exactly! I've been looking because the N2 isn't really that "portable" compared to the 40GB iPod I used to have; but the thought of buying anything else after HAVING an N2, and knowing the N3 will be smaller than the N2 and much better than anything on the market, I just keep praying and putting my credit cards in a safe place (wink). *sigh* I had to settle myself with a 4gb nano in the meantime as my old N1 died a horrific death well past warranty (which I had voided anyhow). I was tempted to get an N2 from eBay or such but with the N3 on the horizon, I really couldn't justify it when I'm still intending on getting an N3.
I'm hoping the machine stays on track -- the iPod nano has it's great uses, but the N3 fills a whole need whereas the nano's 4gb space and lack of features makes it more of a niche player to those of us with large collections. |

Yes, everyday I pray that my N2 lasts. I've got ALL of my music as well as will be converting my spoken word cassettes to mp3 over the Christmas Break and uploading to my N2. I'm hoping the N3 will have an 80GB since I'm rapidly filling up my N2 and don't want to have to worry about lost music/spoken word items.

Hey all,
I too hope the N3 has at least 80gb of storage space
BUT, it will also hopefully have the ability to display cover art. Since they are trying to implement this with the 442, I REALLY hope this will be a reality for the N3.
I'm on the fence right now, staring down at the 60gb G5 IPOD.....I hope we get to hear something definitive about a release soon....we have been waiting patiently for what seems like forever.

I don't think there are 80GB 1.8" drives yet, so no 80GB Neuros III until one is released. I don't know if a color screen has been decidec on yet, either, but there probably will be one since everything (including the kitchen sink) will have one soon enough).
People say my Neuros HD is huge as well. Most people ask me if I bought an extra battery pack or hard drive for it. Oh the looks on their faces when I tell them that the backpack is part of the player and won't work without it. |

Maybe most people care about the Neuros I/II being much bigger than the iPod. But my Neuros I sounds better than the latest iPod, but not as good as my M-Audio soundcard. I think the focus on audio quality in the Neuros III is spot on. Then have a bunch of people do blind listening tests, which would show that 83% of people think the Neuros III sounds the best.
Also, focus on recording quality in the Neuros III. Amateur musicians would snatch it for this feature. |

also, don't forget that with the Neuros you get everything built-in./ with the iPod you have to buy the fm transmitter separately, the fm adapter separately... etc!!!
N2 rulez, until the N3 comes out... |
