I tried to use the firmware up grade on my recorder (I know Dumb and not needed) but hine sight is always 20/20. When I did it i only copied the main.hex file to the cf card. all reported as good but now the recorder comes up with 'no program' on the tv and a blank screen

I checked the zip file and there is a file bootload.hex which I had not copied to the cf card. Is this my error? can it be fixed? does anyone know the bootload.hex and what it is for.

I have redone this with the bootload.hex file and the main.hex but still no program and a blank screen

HELP please anyone. I promise not to mess with anything again

do you know what version of firmware you started with? I have the most current firmware if you want to try that. There may be some others who can help you more, i have not messed with the recorder firmware that much.

oh, and you dont need the bootload file...only the main.hex

Thanks for the reply but as I said the screen mow comes up with 'no program' 'version 1.03'

The manual just refers to the main.hex file which is the one I used but the file notes (which I didn't read until i had a problem) refer to using the bootload file first then using the main.hex file to upgrade. Without knowing for sure I am guessing the bootlaod.hex must make some sort of back of the op program.

What I need now is to either reverse eng the damage or get a copy of the op program that I can use to upgrade the recorder. Maybe is someone has a bootlaod.hex with the program backedup?

At present I have an expensive CF/SD card reader

im sorry, i just noticed that this was posted in the recorder 1 forum, and not the recorder 2 forum. I think you did need the bootload file for the recorder 1.......

ok, did you buy your recorder off of woot? if you bought if off of woot i have a fix for you. if you bought it later, i still think we can get you up and running.

im going to send you an email with a read me file and a main.hex file that should restart your recorder with the older software, from there we should be able to upgrade back to where you want to be.
