1  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / Re: Non-working "new" MPEG-4 Video recorder 2 on: July 12, 2012, 03:13:55 pm
Well, the Recorder 2 does open pretty easily, I've had a test unit open a couple of times...

Sounds like you're right, though...  Just a loose connection somewhere.

Certainly sounds DOA...

Did you try recording anything to see if the light turns red?  Dunno how much that will help, since then you'd be able to record, but not be sure what you're recording or be able to change settings...

Not personally, no.  I always recorded off of a mixing board or with the internal mic.

There are a couple of threads laying about on the topic, though.

At a quick glance, yeah that should work.

Line level.

Well, the A/V In is just that...  A/V In, not Mic in.  You'll have to use something to convert your mic to stereo RCA, then use the A/V cable that came with the 442 from there.
7  Neuros LINK / Neuros LINK - I need help! / Re: Where to buy. on: June 03, 2012, 10:15:54 pm
This has been posted around the forums in a few places, and is (in part) the auto-responder for anyone who sends Support an e-mail asking "where can I buy _____?":

In otherwords, "Nowhere".

3 1/2 hours?  Doing what?  Last time I used mine I got almost 6, playing Q6 Vorbis via headphones, volume at about 1/2.  And the battery in mine is pretty old...

another edit:
Found  #neuros on irc.. GarBage seems to be around but not getting an answer yet.

Good to know that Gar is still around.  I've not heard anything from him in a few years.

The SF repo isn't under GarBage at all...  I think it's just neuros-firmware.sf.net, but the page is pretty well dead, no commits in years, no binaries available.

Have you tried using the "USB 2.0" upgrade method?

http://www.neurostechnology.com/node/128

It should work even with the USB 1.1 port on the "brain".

Looks like the GarBage branch is still on Sourceforge, but no binaries are available...

This is what we normally recommend:

Looks like both of yours should work, though I would go with the 65mm just to be safe.
12  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Frozen OSD on: May 02, 2012, 05:58:27 pm
nwm is the window manager that controls the GUI in Arizona (2.0x).

Why it's chewing the CPU, no idea...
13  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: I need a set of OSD cables! on: May 01, 2012, 06:46:33 pm
I seem to remember that they are some kind of a standard, and the wiring schematic should be on the wiki somewhere...?

I don't think they're iPod A/V, but something similar...?
14  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Tips, Tricks, and Hacks / Re: Solved!! Writable /etc/inittab on: April 29, 2012, 09:29:40 am
To Chad, et al: I doubt there is much hope of getting this to work, is there?  Is there some other OSD-specific tool for accessing/changing the RTC?

Sadly, I was hired in as support, not a dev, and never really got a chance to poke in the source or hw spec at all (yet)...
15  Neuros LINK / Neuros LINK - I need help! / Re: Gamma Link with ATI chipset - Need upgrade on: April 27, 2012, 08:53:45 pm
The upgrade availability was posted in our store, on the forums, and in a few other places for quite some time.  I'm sorry you missed it.

The ATi units originally just pointed at our own update servers so we could make sure nothing broke with MythTV or XBMC.  After a while we realized this was probably overzealous, and just served to delay updates, so the later models just updated from Ubuntu directly.

Ubuntu has a tutorial on setting/changing the sources for updates:  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

If you're still running on a flash drive, make sure you run 'apt-get clean' from the command line between any updates, to free up space.  Alternately, you can just create a clean install of Ubuntu, being careful not to install too much extra, and remove any unneeded packages.
