1  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: OSD says "no storage found" when recording to Network??? on: September 19, 2007, 04:41:20 am
Same issue here with both a Diskstation and ReadyNAS.  The "default" recording (or even browsing to record) doesn't seem to mount the filesystem.  My workaround is to just use the OSD remote to browse the network share required.   I guess a script to mount the network share on startup would also do the trick.
2  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Static IP address on: August 21, 2007, 03:28:28 pm
Downloaded latest beta firmware but for some reason it's not letting me change the DNS server.  Static IP address, gateway etc all fine.  Anyone else experienced similar issues?

No problem with Infrant/Netgear ReadyNAS and I've been using it for months.  Also tested with a Synology DiskStation DS207.  Should imagine it'll work with other Synology Disk Station products or the SMC Tigerstore too (not had time to test it).
4  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: What's Your OSD Killer App? on: August 14, 2007, 08:26:36 am
I'd rather the majority of the coders focused on improving the existing features, resolved more of the bugs, the playback 'quirks', the stabi ity issues and the performance problems [a.k.a. slow responsiveness or locking up of the unit] first.

No point adding another 'killer app' when the basics let it down.  The Mediagate has much less features but is far more stable, easier to use and responsive.  Probably why it sells so well.  The OSD is too buggy and dare I say 'geeky' to attract the average consumer compared to some rival products.

Also want to see a roadmap towards an OSD capable of HDTV.
5  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Cant record more than 2hours and or 2Gbyte at TV/superfine PAL on: August 14, 2007, 08:10:12 am
Yes it splits the files but no problems with long recordins nor playback using a readynas, xp shares or Synology ds207.  Willl test against an SMC Tigerstore when I get a chance.
6  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Watch YouTube on your TV with the Neuros OSD on: June 29, 2007, 04:30:22 pm
Initial thoughts:-

The YouTube thing works rather well.  In fact, the streaming seems better than on my Windoze PC's.   Would love there to be a button to "save" the video though.

The ability to select individual tracks or directories into a playlist is long overdue.  Would be easier to have a button to "tag" individual files for playing rather than having to go back to the main menu every time though.

The photo thumbnailer is very slow and doesn't handle large jpegs (I'm not sure of the max size, haven't had time to experiment enough).  Perhaps it should be leaving thumbnail database files or similar to speed things up?  I like how it can do a slideshow and go through the music playlist at the same time though.

Can we have Internet radio now  Wink
7  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / IR Blaster programming problem on: May 02, 2007, 01:30:26 am
Hmm.  Stuck at the early bit of the IR Blaster "programming" setup wizard.  Pressed the 0 key twice.  It keeps telling me that "the key I have just pressed does not match the one you pressed the first time.  Please try again."

Stumped.
8  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / Re: crond in busybox and a few other questions on: April 22, 2007, 09:42:33 pm
I'd figured that out from the small instruction manual.  I can understand the reasons for the IR blaster but I think it's a bit daft not to have the universal remote changing the TV channels too.  Apparently I'm not the only one.

Haven't noticed the LED going red whilst recording.  I've only noticed the network light flashing like crazy  Smiley

The new firmware is MILES better BTW.  Glad to see it's now playing wma files (non DRM protected of course).  The long recording issue across a network seems sorted too.  PAL flickering and weird menu overlay problems are also now sorted..

Get the audio to video sync playback sorted and it'll be approaching release status

Impressed.  Keep up the good work.

Welcome to the community! The OSD is a funky device, hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

As a FYI, 0.88 firmware's recordings aren't perfect, for instance they can throw some errors on your windows machine. But the next firmware update (should be out real soon) fixes those problems, and if you can believe it, recording quality is ever better!

I'm hoping the new firmware sorts the problem whereby audio judders occur on long recordings (over one hour across a network).  I'll keep plugging away with it.  From a usability point of view I thnk the OSD is crying out for a "recording" LED.  Is there a soundchip inside it as even a "beep" would be useful.  Seems strange to me that the remote can't control the TV channel  Tongue

10  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Feedback & Discussion / crond in busybox and a few other questions on: April 17, 2007, 07:16:50 pm
Just received my OSD in sunny New Zealand.  After some headscratching (turned out one of the composite leads was dodgy) I've got it up and running.  The 3.28-0.88 firmware works really well with my NAS and Windoze shares.  It's even recording to the NAS, damned impressive.    Spent last night bleary eyed "playing" with it.  A few questions though :-

1) Is there anything to schedule playback?  If a cron daemon is runnning then I'm thinking busybox could be compiled with cron support?  That way it could kick of a script file (preferably on a network location).
2) Is there a way of recording playing files from the Telnet prompt?
