I was curious if anybody had a solution for this. the MP4 is a bit of a storage hog. I wouldn't mind being able to trim the file sizes down between 700 to 800MB for an average movie (i base this number on the average size of other xvid dvix movies). This would also be a great want list for future OSDs to have the ability to output the file to xvid.

thanks

Go to one of the shareware sites and look for 'ffmpeg' or 'ffmpegX' for mac os. There are many other video conversion apps out there for windows os as well, but this one is pretty powerful once you get it figured out.

I'm on Windows and have tried a number of converters and I have found Koyote Free Video Converter to be one of the best for all types of conversions  ( http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html ).  I have some portable players that play dvx/Xvid but not mp4 to I use Koyote to do the conversion.
