Note: The things listed below were originally tested/noted with the default version of OSDng (2.52), but after I upgraded to 2.55, the results were unchanged.

All is not well with OSDng.  These things work and are nice:
        a) VNC works (the "mushy keys" problem is fixed.  Yey!  Yey! and Yey!)
        b) Being able to install packages like bash, ldd, and, of course,
            x11vnc, is really nice.

But these things don't work, and caused me to back out back to plain Arizona:
        a) YouTube doesn't work at all.  This was supposed to be a big
improvement, but now it doesn't work at all.  I keep getting an
error message that says the Network is not connected (or something
            like that).
        b) The interface that allows you to setup/connect to your network
shares doesn't work.  I have 4 shares that I routinely connect
to, but somehow, I can only connect to 3 of them, then things
get weird.  And I can't play anything from these shares.  By
"get weird", I mean that when you select "Play/Browse" from the
main menu, instead of going to the next normal screen (menu),
it does a "Starting Application/Please Wait" routine (which it
shouldn't do at this point), and then eventually comes back to the
main menu.  Once this happens, you can never get past this point.
Since this is the core of what I use the OSD for, this is a
            deal-breaker.
        c) It doesn't keep time across boots.  Each boot resets the time to
1/1/1970 (midnight).  This doesn't happen with the regular firmware.

i had a similar problem, i had a share set up on my windows xp pro computer and i could play some video but most of the time it just went to the mail menu.
scince then i have upgraded to windows 7 and have a share set up and i have not 1 single problem.

all i can say is try remaking the shares.  (note:  i made the OSD it's own profile on my pc.)

Unlikely to be the issue/solution, since:

1) The shares work fine under Arizona - it only fails under OSDng.  Note: in other correspondence between myself and Greyback, he has expressed wonder/doubt about why this should be so, since the networking code should be the same between Arizona and OSDng.  Still, it seems to be the case.  When I get a chance, I will do some more testing.

2) The shares work fine under every other OS - all of my Windows, Mac, Linux, etc boxes can access the shares just fine.

Yes, Youtube doesn't work at all. Maybe someone for whom youtube is working might give us some tips! (But I guess no one has youtube working...)
