1080p performance on Win7 64bit with Phantom

I purchased a 2TB Phantom Neuros Link (G41 graphics) last fall which came with Ubuntu installed. When I tried to run 1080p videos with a high bitrate, it was extremely choppy and could barely play the files using VLC, so I installed Windows 7 instead.

I now have much better performance with with 1080p files using Windows 7, and zero problems with 720p files.

I still get choppiness with certain 1080p mkvs though (BITRATE: 11695 Kbps for example). I have 2GB of memory installed on the Link. I believe the problem is that the G41 chipset can't handle this.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a cheap video card that I could add to the Link to improve it's 1080p HD playback performance on Windows?

Can I get any type of graphics card for it, or does it  have to be a 'low profile' card due to the lack of room in the case? This would be for HDMI ouput.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It would have to be low-profile (aka half-height) card to fit in the normal LINK case.

What codec were the videos that were being choppy under Ubuntu?  We tested using h.264.
