NMC will no longer synch

I have a 20g neuros music computer and a pc running win7.Until recently everything worked fine.I had been useing the neuroe as an outboard hd.Now for some reason it cannot be recognised by the pc(no synch icon,Basically nothing when I plug in the usb cable.I've tried all the usual stuffwith no results.The unit seems to work fine until I plug in the USB cable.Then the controls freeze but no synch at all.I'm goin' nuts cause I would hate to lose the use of one of my favorite pieces of electronics.Can anyone help?

I mentioned this in (what I think is your) support ticket earlier, but try with the brain of the player disconnected.
