new wireless card for 1.2 link?

My 4/09 production link has long been without it's wireless card (removed from case, original d-link) and I'm wanting to add a wireless card that is a proven good performer on my ver 1.2.2 link. My system will not be able to fetch any new components- it must be plug and play for the system as it exists. It went off the reservation some time ago (I have not been able to update packages for 417 days according to package manager). I'm not looking to fix this separate issue just yet, just looking to get wireless.
